We can't use even the second latest version of ID?

Apparently because it won't work with Prinect for the digital. This is now our third client that we've had to ask for a workaround because they gave us files with the latest version of InDesign. Heidelberg tech says the software hasn't caught up to the latest version to allow them to work, we have to use a 2024 version in order to print to digital. Is it me or is this absurd? Heidelberg? All the over engineering with cockpit and prinect and we can't even use programs from a year ago? Bring me Fiery now lol!!!

Although I am not familiar with Prinect, that is absolutely absurd! Do you submit InDesign files or PDF to Prinect? If the latter, I wonder if flattening all transparency would at least allow Prinect to process those PDF files?

I spoke too soon. I completely forgot that our digital presses are driven by Prinect Digital Print Manager 2019. So far, I have not had any complaints from our Digital department and we are exclusively using the latest version of InDesign. If you’d like, feel free to post or send me a small PDF that is giving you troubles and I can test it through our Prinect software.

Thank you. I am not the operator, I just run the digital printer. I have always disliked Prinect but that's what we are stuck with for now. Heidelberg said some customers upgrade and have no issues at all, but there are a lot of others who are having problems. Literally a flip of the coin. We are currently looking for a new digital and whatever we pick will be using the Fiery DFE, so I think the plan is to limp on by until then. But this is ridiculous. Appreciate the help, I'll reach out if things change. Thanks!!

Do you get IDML files with the packaged Indesign file? Those are backwards compatible, would those not work?
