Xerox Corporation has signed an agreement with Kyocera Document Solutions to source its high-speed cut-sheet inkjet production presses, marking Xerox’s return to the cut-sheet inkjet (CSIJ) segment.

Ricoh has been selling the Kyocera Taskalpha for a while with the differentiator being Ricoh feed and finishing accessories. It goes for around $200k USD give or take. A limiting factor is that it only prints on uncoated or inkjet coated paper. If if Xerox adds pre-treat unit like they have in the Baltero cuthsheet inkjet press, that would be interesting.

Interesting! My rep was telling me they were coming out with a new press. Her face went stone-cold dead when I asked who's technology they were going with since they ended their relationship with Fuji. LOL

Our leases end in 10(?) months on our Versant 4100s, I think this new round of RFQs in April will be very interesting.

Xerox's stock has gone from $18/share in to $4/share in 1.5 years. I'd be sketched out about longterm Xerox commitments on that basis, but you could use that figure as a negotiating tool.

The 55000 does not appear to be shipping, since there are no press releases or videos about it being in use by a real customer. Also, Fiery doesn't have a RIP listed for it.
This article has some info including a suggested price of 500k and a drying unit that requires 50amps of 3 phase power. The Taskalpha 15000 goes for around 200k USD according to a salesrep I talked to, so I'm a little dubvious that the 55000 would be more than twice the cost. The article also mentions a Fiery FS300 controller which is like a 2018 model. I'd expect them to ship with an FS500 or FS600.

I'll be checking it out at Printing United if I end up going- I'd love to get away from the chronic hassles of toner presses.

Fuji has an updated Versant 4100, EC2100, that has a 5th color station and I think uses Iridesse toner. Xerox may be shipping it with their plastic like they do the rest of their re-badged Fuji machines.

This makes sense, a Xerox rep told me that there was an update for the Versant 280 coming soon. Looks like Fuji already has it in their lineup. The new boxes switched to LED imaging for what was the Versant lineup, so it truly is an upgrade from what has been out there.

If Xerox is going to announce any new printers, I'm sure it'll be ~this month. We shall see!
