Pricing Question

Would anyone mind sharing what they charge for 500 3 part carbonless forms? Just black and white, single sided on 20# paper.
Thank you in advance!

I am also quite interested in the answer to this question. I am an inplant that has charged the same price for every impression regardless of stock until I started to run things.

Not wanting to rock the boat too much to quickly, I added a stock cost charge on top of the fixed impression charge. Just ran a test order in my system and it came out like this:
1500 B&W Impressions @ $0.045/ea = $67.50
1500 Sheets of 3pt NCR @ $0.02879/ea = $43.185
Total for 1500 sheets - $110. 69
EDIT: we also sometimes add a small padding charge of $5-30, but typically only add it if the quantity is 5000+.

However - it should be noted that this impression charge is an arbitrary number that I'm not allowed to change easily, and the stock per sheet price is from early 2021 and likely lower than it should be given the paper supply chain issues.

I'm very curious if this is above, below, or close to what the industry average is on this item.

I'm an inplant also and we only charge a few outside agencies. But we calculate everything to justify our existence, currently the cost for 500 3ncr would be $70.50, that is the cost of the paper and a click charge. We print all carbonless on a Xerox D95. We used to print all black and white and carbonless on a Xerox 4127, with lots of issues, now that we have a dedicated machine for carbonless, its a workhorse with very few issues.

$149 for us printing offset
Printing - $72
NCR - $72
Padding - $5

Edit: I'd be interested to know if what we're paying for ncr paper is high or not. Our supplier has had quite a few increases.

No real point in comparing given my location but in Ireland for this job I'd be paying €30 in ncr stock.

We would charge $171.26.
We would charge $68 for the paper, which is a 50% markup.
$71 for the digital press, which is a color machine, we don't have any B&W machines. If it was a higher quantity, we would run it offset. We pay .0085 cents per 11x17 B&W click, but charge based on hourly cost of machines.
$8.40 for padding
$15 to cover entering the job info, printing ticket and handling file.

I don’t do nearly as much NCR as I once did and I’ll send out anything over 2,500 sets now. My cost on NCR vs what the trade shops are paying makes it well worth it to just send the larger jobs out and concentrate on the color work. Last paper order I paid $34/M sheets.
Paper $73 (includes markup)
Print $63
Padding $13
Total $149

Sorry, just curious, do you mind me asking why you put a direct markup on stock?

I generally calculate costs (artwork, stock, click, hourly rates etc) and then add a % markup on the total?

I would say it is to cover spoilage, storing the paper and moving it around, but also because that is what my father and grandfather did and I just kept doing it.

Curious where everyone is getting the NCR paper. My cost is almost double of what's being quoted on this chat. I purchase excel one carbonless. works well our the digital press.

I was just wondering the same thing. We're in the PNW and use WCP, but there prices are way higher based on what's being posted on this thread.

Also try Printing Supplies Direct and Patten Graphic Supplies. Eric Patten is a great guy to do business with.

I buy from WCP, but we are government and I can sometimes get paper cheaper from Office Depot on the state contract. I don't like to order from OD because the boxes come UPS and are trashed, but I got a new rep and decided to ask him, last one had said no, this gave me a better price and he helped me out alot.

Wow, your click charge is really high. Is that all you pay or do you have other fees as well?

They likely aren't setup where a double-size sheet is the same click rate as a single sheet. He also mentioned that the print charge is based on hourly machine rate, not the click; whereas I run both - a base BHR for the machine + click.

.0085 is a very good rate for black on a color machine. That's less than half a cent on a 8½x11.
I was thinking the same thing, We pay the same per click and the click charge includes our service agreement. Main reason we stay with Canon and our local Canon rep. Our color is a little less than .04 per click.

Figured I'd chime in here since we're all sharing click charges.

We have a Nuvera 144EA with a click charge of $0.0053 for copies over 750,000 per quarter.
We have a Versant 180 with a click charge of $0.0336 for copies over 240,000 per quarter.
