Xerox IJP900 Inkjet Press

Interesting! I heard they were coming out with a new production inkjet after their Fuji partnership fell apart. I think I heard it's Kyocera based?

Interesting that Xerox is using Ricoh's feed and finishing hardware.

A couple of questions I would have a for a Xerox rep
-What is the value of buying from Xerox vs Ricoh
-Is Xerox going to be a reliable supplier given that their stock has been plummeting

The Ricoh Taskalfa was around 200k USD a couple of years ago.

I think the nearest inkjet competitor to this machine is the Canon IX1700, which I'm guessing will be closer to 500k USD, but it can prime and print on coated media and has a 14" paper path. I don't believe Canon has started shipping them yet.

200k? awesome! even at 300k (likely how much the same machine from Xerox is going to cost LOL), significantly less expensive than the Baltoro was.

Agreed...their Q2 results were pretty dismal. and they don't even make any of their own production printing equipment anymore. Their production toner presses are made by FujiFilm, this inkjet is made by Kyocera, and they've stopped making their flagship iGen & Nuvera lines. Perhaps the recent acquisition of Lexmark will help them see a turnaround, but I think their focus is only on the office copier/printer level as they were already making most of the components for Xerox's office line before this.

LOL... my Xerox rep had no idea it was a Kyocera, and that Ricoh was offering the exact same machine in the US market.

So what are the differences in the offerings from Xerox and Ricoh? The best I can tell, they offer completely different RIPs: Ricoh offers only Fiery and Xerox is offering only their Freeflow.

Kyocera has done an amazing job marketing this product. They've got Ricoh and Xerox selling it, plus I've seen just about every multi-line dealership in my area promoting it. And they still sell it themselves! I've seen multiple school districts in my area get one (or 2) at their inplants.

I don't think there is any difference (other than the logo on the front!). According to this page on Xerox's website, they are also only offering the Fiery controller. I don't see anything about a FreeFlow controller.
