    Versioning blk changes

Great, I will take a look at the demo. I will take a look at the demo and let you know how things go (and any question I have). Thanks for the info! Adam

    Versioning blk changes

Our vendor is requesting that we supply layered PDFs. While that is doable using InDesign I do have some concerns. Because at minimum Acrobat 6 (PDF 1.5) is required to make a layered PDF it will not meet PDFX standards. Is this standard no longer a concern for print vendors? Another issue I...

    RGB or CMYK in print?

Gordo - I would love to take a shot at it...I guess I should ask, what format you would like back? :)

    RGB or CMYK in print?

Sanny, There is a lot of good info in this post and you may already have your answer. My workflow, from an agency view, simply put... We request RAW from photographers - since we are doing the creative our AD's are on the shoot and will give the direction as to what they want the final image...

What are the key ideas for achieving greater efficiency in prepress?

"Arthaven; Some people naturally have it and others don't." Amen! I can't tell you how many times I have stated those exact words. Without a trained (and motivated) staff it will not matter how much communication or automation is in place. Taking the time to train will have its own ROI just...

IPA’s Color Management Professional (CMP) Certification Program

Good information...thank you both. I guess I can't go wrong if I go through both courses, now to convince my employer to put it in the budget. :-)

IPA’s Color Management Professional (CMP) Certification Program

How does this compare to the G7 Professional Certification? Is one recommended over the other...I was about taking the G7 certification but now seeing this post I may look into the CMP program.

Users Poll proofing Rips GMG vs Oris

I have been using GMG for going on 4 years now...upgraded the RIP and added the Epson 4880 and a 9880 to the 4800 a year ago. 4800, 4880. The only problem I had was with the new X-rite iO table, it had to be shipped back overseas for recalibration. The transition to the new HW and SW was flawless.

    Proof/Consumable Tracking

Yep, I have a FMP database together but now am trying to expand it , just having some issues with calc functions. I agree that it can all fall apart if the operators don't use the system. Is you DB proprietary? Could you send me a screen grab? Let me know, we can go offline if necessary.

    Proof/Consumable Tracking

The system used is for design/marketing firms, time is entered manually. A line item is needed just to include proofs. I need to track how many proofs are made for each job then pass off that info to the account team for billing. For internal budgeting reasons I need to account for consumable...

    Proof/Consumable Tracking

My company is a marketing/design firm. I have brought our prepress in-house almost entirely supplying final PDF/X-1a files and Epson proofs via a GMG ColorProof RIP. I know I have over-simplified things but I am trying to keep it short. We are producing more proofs than ever, having various...

    Moiré Issue

Thank you, I feel much better knowing I am not loosing my mind. You all have confirmed what I have been thinking and trying to relay to those involve with this project. I understand the only way to see moiré on output is to have a dot proof or press proof made but I guess I am still trying to...

    Moiré Issue

I would use other choice words to replace "Issue" but for fear of being reported I will keep it clean. I am looking for insight, help, confirmation, anything that can resolve the moiré issue I am having. I consider there to be two types of moiré, pixel caused by the camera and pattern caused by...

Re: HELP! Colour Theory & Colour Management Tutes! Sorry, I haven't logged on in a while. I attended GATF's "Imaging Skills Train-the-Trainer" workshop a while back, it may be what you are looking for but here is a link to books they offer...

    GMG day to day

Re: GMG day to day Like I said, before my time...I think I met Curt on his last day. I recognized your name from some records Curt handed off to me and I didn't realize you were vendors for us. As far as I knew we had been doing the proofs in-house for some time. However, I have to say I have...
