Research project on Sheetfed offset inks rheology problems

I'd like to ask if ink companies are using transparent white anymore? Take for instance pms 425. Generally you run more ink to achieve color with heavily diluted inks such as 425. What I've found lately is is that they've almost, if not totally, skipped that part of the mix. The film of ink in...

    Ryobi 3304HA predamp

Is there a way to change the predamp settings on this press. Right now it's doing 12 revolutions on high and then they slow down which is way way too much. I'm washed out for 50 sometimes more sheets. The press has a console but it's more or less for ink settings unless I'm missing something...

    Ghosting in screen....

I've seen this happen on a different press before. Turned out a bushing went bad and the rollers stopped oscilating. Make sure your oscillating rollers are well, fully oscillating.

Water pooling at the bottom of solids

I have lowered the waters but after the thirty forty or so sheets inks begin to scum up. It's quite the conondrum. I'm pulling hair here.

Water pooling at the bottom of solids

Just drained and flushed my water tank. Put fresh and same fountain solution in and now I'm getting water pooling at the start of solids on the plate. Takes about forty sheets to somewhat settle down but even then seams unstable. You can see water everwhere. Not just washed out but swish swashes...

Help! AB Dick 9850 Envelope printing

Hmm. That's the same way we run them and, I have to admit, I've never seen this happen. Only thing I can think of is too much air blast to seperate the envelopes. I run my air practically off. Also, make sure your tapes are to the extreme outside of the edges with out the guide pushing the tapes...

Help! AB Dick 9850 Envelope printing

What kind of envelopes are we talking here? Regular no. 10's, no. 9's, 9x12 open end or open side 10x13 open end or side? Where are you gripping them at on the flap or tail or on the side?

    Tack Reducer

Agreed, but I do find it helps take a lot of curl out of light weight gloss stocks with heavy coverage.

Fine, tell your boss to order lint free stock.

Tell him to reduce them is to wear dark sunglasses and to eliminate them is to close your eyes. But seriously, you'd have to run the board through blank once to get most of the loose fragments off. Also, when printing, put a blank plate on your first open unit (if you have one) and run your...

    2013 Printing Ink Technician Description

My ink technician is some guy behind a desk that answers a phone. Probably looks in a color book and says "yeah that's a color alright, how much do you want?". Then he'll call another guy who probably calls another guy who gets the order in. If you have any questions about your ink the best...

    col variation

As it was a five color I moved three colors back a unit (KCM-Y) until Heidelberg arrived. My company refused to fix equipment in house that was still under warranty. As for the outcome I couldn't tell you much. It was a 24/7 shift so it's fix was when I wasn't there. Anyway, I was just offering...
