Hope your all well! As a prepress guru myself I was hoping for some support on Talenthouse. I don't claim to be a "designer" but I'm one of those prepress people that will "have a bash!" so as not to always be bashing plates around the CTP room in frustrations! Running a Prinect system though...

...yep, definitely depends on the file, it is a misconception that all vector artwork is automatically smaller in file size than bitmap work... ...also a misconception that PDF 1.3 creates larger PDF due to flattening than using higher versions of PDF, sometimes they are, sometimes not...

...indeed, k only shadows great for mono printing, in four color printing they can look naff... ...four color black and white images can look much better than black ink only images...

...i agree with toronar, our experience with heidelberg prinect has been overall a good one, the system is very in depth and is clearly expandable to cater for automated guillotines if you want to take it that far. We used to have Agfa Apogee X, and while Preps is a fine impo software package...

...bare minimum is good practice, however the essential system fonts for tiger you need are as follows (deviating from this list can cause you issues, as you are experiencing), as you haven't it appears listed Helvetica.dfont, then this is likely the problem... ...of course, headaches can occur...
