    Relocate to Nevada...need info.

This might sound obvious but I would look for space near the main UPS office (that's south of McCarran airport) there's actually a few printers nearby.

Need advice on what digital printers to buy

If you're going strictly B&W I think a Docutech might be overkill but if you can get a cheap used one that might be ok. But as they suggested above I believe outsourcing this would be your best bet.

    Digital Prints Cracking

Same here we use a Morgana Digifold with our iGen4 and it does a great job regardless of grain direction.

starting small print shop. need advice

I hate to be negative but, don't do it! You will quickly find out that printing is a very tough business. But if you are absolutely sure you want to go through with it, it's all about the equipment! Good equipment will save the day and bad equipment will drain your bank account. Also you'll...

    Digital finishing equipment

I have to agree with the on the Morgana it's a great device and it does a great job of creasing and folding digital jobs with minimal cracking. It's a pretty trouble free device but make sure you have someone that can service it. I would personally stay away from Count, PM me if you want...

    HEY! Where'd my i go?

First I would ask for a native file (I know that's easier said than done). Here's a few tricks that might work to make this print: If you have the font use pitstop to embed your version of the font. If you have the font but no pitstop try downloading the font to your RIP and try to print it...

    iGen 150

Spoken like someone who hasn't seen good digital! Digital print might be a supplement at some shops, but I've seen plenty of printers that are not only 100% digital but damn good at it.

    Overprint varnish on digital print?

I print digital all day and your problem might be cheap paper. My secret to no cracking is use good paper, crease and go with the grain. Also I've upgraded from a Count creaser to a Morgana and the results are amazing on any paper weight.

    Igen 4-90 vs Nexpress SE2500

I have to agree with photoplan. The HP 7500 and the iGen4 are the best when it comes to digital work. First of all make sure you have the volume and then think about what is more important to you. If you just want quality then the Indigo is probably the best but if you want sheet size go with...

    Thermal Lamination Machine

We use a machine made in Japan, it's a FUJIPLA ALM 3220. It's fully automatic and we use it all the time (1000-2000 sheets per day) we use paper from 90gsm all the way to 300 gsm and film that's 1.5 mil to 5 mil both glossy and matte.

    MiraFoil

Is anyone successfully using MiraFoil? I've sent out a few projects to different shops across the country and my results are never really satisfying. Instead of a true foil look, we always get something that resembles a metallic ink. Are my expectations too high or is the name of the product...

PPML from XMPIE to CREO and Fiery

I use XMPie and a Fiery on a daily basis and depending on the file I'll either use PPML (Zipped), VPS and sometimes PostScript. But honestly I use VPS the most. For PPML all the settings should be the same, if you look at the XMPie handbook it will tell you what settings apply to each rip.

    creo vs fiery?

It all depends on what you're comfortable with. I would talk to people with your printer/rip combination and see what works best, whatever you do ignore the sales person. I've used Fiery for years and their product is unbelievably better now than it used to be, and you can use VPS like you...
