Yes, the toner inside is the same, but depending upon your dealer, they may changed the rings on the toner "hoppers" so other bottle won't fit. I know IKON did this to me when I had an 8050 years ago.

I agree with the above suggestion of a KM7000, don't know if you'll get the click charge quite that low without a large commitment, but it'll duplex 100# cover all day.

Amen to that...we're 100% digital and wouldn't have it any other way. You better believe I'm "picky" , and I pay dearly for that privilege.

Both my 8000s and 1200s will do it, the 1200 will slow down a bit if you change one of the trays to a heavier weight. I have done runs on both machines pulling from as many as 8 drawers at a time, and it runs full speed. Nothing special about the config, you may have to "lie" to it about the...

I'm not 100% sure about the KM7000, but I run several 8000s very hard, and tray switching absolutely does not slow the machine down at all. That kind of volume should be no problem on any WELL MAINTAINED mid level production machine. I used to run KM 6500s and produce well over that volume...

I have a 21" Tec Lighting coater, and their coating is working great for the output of my KM C8000s.

I'm probably running 70-80k a month, most of which is 3-4 page 12x18 brochures on 80lb gloss cover with heavy coverage. I haven't seen any service at all really, other then a freak issue with a cracked shaft right out of the crate. I haven't seen the issue you're describing , but to be fair...

That's what I'm running, the 5000 system with the separate cover feeder, and the slitter/creaser inline. We've had it about 3 months, and absolutely LOVING it so far, it really chews through the work.

I had one of the first ones, and I totally agree....it was to early for REAL production. I had a bit easier time of it then you did it seems, but I'm glad it's working out for you.

You are correct, I have the full service version and it's not cheap, but there is a "Light" version as well.
