Man roland free forum tech assistance

Hello! We have a MAN ROLAND R205 sheet fed offset. We're getting a recurrent error message (which apparently is not fatal, since confirming it lets us continue using the machine). The message reads: WFR ON/ OFF FAULT. I believe that WFR is an acronym for Water Fountain Roller. But what does the...

    What is Print

Arts and crafts... by the numbers! Arts and crafts... by the numbers! Printing SHOULD be a by-the-numbers trade... However, due to a series of factors, it is a craft and often even becomes a form of art.. Let me explain. I believe that most of those that work in printing have had their share...

Is it possible to achieve bright orange using CMYK

Putting it into one short word, as well said above, no! I had the same problem when printing for Orange (the mobile phone company) on a wet offset press. We had to use spot colour or otherwise there would be no "orange" in the Orange logo. Forget trying CMYK. Use spot. If it's a valued customer...

What is your best care of printing plate?

I for one still don't get it... I for one still don't get it... What exactly do you mean by "best care of CTP plates"?!?! Do you mean how do we tend to or store our plates? Which ones? The raw plates, before exposure or finished ones?!? Or maybe you mean "preferred type of plate"??? Please be...

    Press Lubrication

As far as I can make it the technology seems quite reliable. First of all, the product BORON CLS BOND does not aim at modifying the properties of the lubricant. Instead, it achieves a very hard coating on the metal surface of the parts involved (regardless of metal in question), coating that...

    Mitsubishi or Komori or Hidelberg

I'd presume that M/R means Machine Runs (works). Our distinguished colleagues presumably refer to the number of printing works they are producing within a normal day on their machines. English not being my native tongue, allow me to appologize for the eventual mistakes. On the other hand, I can...

Would the Death of News Printing Benefit Commercial Printers?

I'm in printing business since the end of the '70's. Ever since 1980, I've been hearing this mumbo-jumbo about the disappearence of newspapers. I am confident that we'll still have newspapers a long time since now. Why?! It's easy! As an information support, the newspaper needs minimal knowledge...

    scratch off inks

Did a lot of scratch offs several years ago (2001-2004). Used to offset varnish them (matte offset varnish) and then apply scratch off using screen printing. Good consistent results each time. Product was a kind of instant win lottery card applied on label of consumer goods (canned vegetables).

what fountain solution are you currently using?

Hi! We're using Journal Fount M-K, from Varn on a MAN UNISET 75 with turbo dampening. Plates are FUJI negative polymer Brilia LP-NNW. Exposition is made using a brand new (installed dec.2008) Fuji Luxel V8 HS machine, capable of outputting a maximum of 100 plates per hour. Coldset inks from...
