I find a correctly set up PDF X, 1a or 4, produced from Indisgn CC, is rock solid.

I have been testing XCMYK. Looks very interesting. Two key points. Start with RGB files/images. The press used must have UV drying in order to handle the greater ink film weights.

There are many printers in the UK who can take a PDF from a Word RGB file and use colour server software to convert it to CMYK and ensures things like the black being only black etc.

Not sure re this statement. It will be important in some areas, W2P etc, but many of my clients would not be comfortable relying on web based solutions for critical workflow areas, re resilience and security issues.

Hi Is anyone running of the chemistry free plates from Kodak and Fuji on presses running with low or no alcohol in the damping? Is this working, or do these plates need alcohol in the damping to 'process' on press? Paul Sherfield
