Challenge MPC 305

Having an issue with my Challenge MPC cutter. Suddenly the back gauge will not move electronically. Last thing I did was move it to 10 inches and it hasn't moved via the panel since.

Moves with the hand crank fine. Computer keeps showing 55 and doesn't adjust. I know I have to do the preset procedure but when I try to move it at all electronically it wont budge.

I am seeing voltage to the motor. About 80volts DC. Brushes look okay, still a good amount of meat left on them. Was very dirty so I cleaned out.

Manual says to check ports 39 and 40 at the power panel. I see 5volts there. When I try to move it forward or reverse the board does light up. The motor doesn't even flinch. Eventually machine goes into error state.

Short of trying new brushes or whole new motor I am at a loss. Not sure where to even find a new motor at for this thing.

Go to about 8" then hold the forward key. BG should move in very slow mode as it doesnt know where it is. Then about 5" it should preset. If you have the book do the 55 master reset. It wipes out your programs but it gets you running again

probably totally irrelevant, but my hand cranked cutter has a thing where when it's been switched off and back on again, the electronic depth gauge only starts working when you crank it past a certain point (almost all the way to the end).

could it be something similar? try hand cranking it all the way back the other direction to see if it then resets itself?

I second this ⬆️. I had 305 MPX's, and this was what got us past the 55 errors.
