X-rite densitometer readings to Excel spreadsheets on a Mac

Re: X-rite densitometer readings to Excel spreadsheets on a Mac Thanks Raymond. I was able to get X-Key to work after entering the code Michael had suggested and immediately realized I needed more guidance for configuring strips and data sets, but I haven't had an opportunity to hunt that info...

    Selecting images behind foreground objects?

Re: Selecting images behind foreground objects? I've been using the "Hide Selection" feature (Under the Edit menu, Cmd-Opt-H) to get foreground elements out of the way and then "Show All" (Cmd-Opt-S) once I'm done. Not a very efficient way of doing it if you've got alot to do but it does work...

X-rite densitometer readings to Excel spreadsheets on a Mac

Re: X-rite densitometer readings to Excel spreadsheets on a Mac Eric, what device are you using? I've downloaded ToolCrib 5, but X-Key is not working with my DTP41. I'm using the Windows XP Pro and trying to get info into Excel. Can't find any documentation, is there some detail I'm missing...

    Nexus PDF RIP Speed Issues

Re: Nexus PDF RIP Speed Issues I haven't made the move to a PDF workflow yet for this very reason. In a pure PDF workflow, the PDF has to be processed again at every step. With the PS/Link workflow, once the PS is processed the work is done. I'm sure there are details I don't know about, but I...

Is that file Quark6 or Quark7?

Re: Is that file Quark6 or Quark7? Here's an extension that, if both QX6 and QX7 are running, will open the QX file with correct version: www.jolauterbach.com You'll find the JoJo extension under "Freeware". Hope this helps. Edited by: GinSu on Jul 24, 2008 10:40 AM

    Grayscale Printing

Re: Grayscale Printing I know our antiquated Canon 1000 with a Fiery RIP has settings for forcing blacks to black only. If your vendors IKON should have similar options, they need to turn them on when printing your grayscale side. Edited by: GinSu on Jul 24, 2008 9:33 AM - - Grammar and...

Convert Fill Line to Stroke in Illustrator CS3

Re: Convert Fill Line to Stroke in Illustrator CS3 Try opening the die in PSD, this will rasterize it (I suggest 600dpi grayscale). Now with the magic wand tool, select the interior of the die. Modify the resulting selection to 'Expand' the appropriate number of pixels to reach your dieline...

    Reduce size of everything?

Re: Reduce size of everything? If your using QX7 and have downloaded the free Xpert Tools Extensions from Quarks' web site, you can use "Xpert Scale" (under the Window menu) to do your scaling. It does not do it from the center, but you could shift everything the necessary amount after the...

    Nexus 8.6 rev2 is out!

Re: Nexus 8.6 rev2 is out! Kristof--I'm printing as In-Rip separations directly from IDCS3. Exporting as a PDF yields the same result. Some clarification, ALL strokes within the table must be the same color as the fill in order to get it to trap correctly. Now, create a box with a fill of...

    Nexus 8.6 rev2 is out!

Re: Nexus 8.6 rev2 is out! Joe Here's one AWS denies exist. Create a table in IDCS3 with cell stroke defined as black, but the cell fill with 100% black and 20% cyan. Set some type in the cell an set it to white. Run it through a raster/trap workflow and the keep-away (cutback) trap is funky...

    Tired of getting Zapped!

Re: Tired of getting Zapped! An anti-static mat would be nice, but costs money. I don't know how much, but I'll bet it is more expensive than seven paperclips. From my early days of spending hours in the frame room burning composite films from orange vinyl masks, rubylith and film I remember...

    Spot Colors Quark 7.3

Re: Spot Colors Quark 7.3 Here something that a local printer discovered the hard way, the PANTONE solid coated definitions of some colors are different in QX7 than in QX6. In QX6 (and our solid-to-process color guide) "PANTONE Red 032 C" is 90magenta & 86yellow. The same color in QX7 is...

    Nexus 8.6 rev 1

Re: Nexus 8.6 rev 1 Not that I'm aware of. I am stilling running 8.5.3 because I'm waiting for more input on 8.6.1. Most of the issues refered to don't effect me because I do have a Windows 2003 server and I don't use composite or NexusImport workflows.

    Can't print from Quack 7.31

Re: Can't print from Quack 7.31 Can't print a blank doc? Perhaps a problem with a PPD? Does this error to all printers or only one? If it errors to all then it probably isn't a PPD issue. I'm not certain how to fix a PPD issue, short of removing and re-creating the printer using Printer Setup...

    Quark 7 extremely slow!

Re: Quark 7 extremely slow! We are fortunate that most of the agencies in town have switched to InDesign, and as a consequence we rarely receive QX7 files. In fact we get five times as many QX4 as we do QX7. One instance of unreasonable slowness (on my dual 1.25 G4, 1GB RAM) involved a QX...

    EFI vs GMG

Re: EFI vs GMG If you go with the GMG, I wouldn't spend the extra bucks for the dot proof. The fuzzy dots make it look blurry and since the dots aren't sharp, only the most extreme of moire issues will show. And showing moire is one of the benefits of a dot proof.
