Pulling the trigger on a refurbished 6500 - down sides?

The sales rep actually showed me that feature specifically on the machine? I wonder if I was looking at a c6501?

    Cost of papers?

I'm new to this biz and I'm trying to get a feel for 13x19 card stocks - 10, 12 & 14 point. I'm sure there are different finishes and such - just trying to get a feel for the cost per sheet. We'll buy it by the skid load if this helps the price.

Pulling the trigger on a refurbished 6500 - down sides?

First of all - I'd like to start by saying the Konica reps have assured me it has all the upgrades to make it equiv to a 6501 (in terms of fixes) and the price is very attractive. Any big down sides to this machine? They claim I can run 12pt duplexing; but I've heard from others not so much...

Heid QM DI - Pros? Cons?

Thanks for the response! I think initially it will be runs of between 1000 & 5000 - 10 times a week, but will pick up quickly. We have a very big customer base in our larger format business and piles have already said they would bring their biz card and flyer business to us. I thought I...

Heid QM DI - Pros? Cons?

I've been looking at a few QM DI machines as an entry to the offset market. I'm flopping back and forth between this and digital. We'll be printing mainly flyers and biz cards- quantitys of 1000, 2500 & 5000. A few questions: - How many wasted sheets do you have per run with this unit? - How...

Print quality of an older HP Indigio 1000?

I see a fair bit of these on the used market for decent prices and I'm thinking of using it as a way of getting into the card and flyer printing biz (currently we do grand format printing [6+ ft]). How does this machine compare to whats on the market today? Does it produce an acceptable resolution?

Agreed- we're merely looking at something to help build up that end of our business for the time being and then either move to a Heidelberg QM DI, or some other small 4 colour press.

Printing 4 colour with a 2 colour press?

Thanks for the info guys, this sounds terrific! And idea what the approx cost per impression is on say- 12x18 when just factoring in the ink? I'd imagine its alot less than our current digital method (which is $0.10 per color hit on 12x18) Thanks again!

Printing 4 colour with a 2 colour press?

We're looking at getting an entry level press, and the thought of getting a 2 colour press to build up a work flow, and then migrating to a full four colour press in a bit. Would this work? I'd imagine we need a good press operator, but is it do-able? Thanks in advance!

Whats a good entry level digital biz card printer?

yea, that's what I was thinking. You can add a service contract onto the used ones right? How good is the registration on those in mm? Also, on a side note- what would you say the average card per page is for 13x19 12 point (paper only)

    Presstek DI 52

Xerox sales reps are the biggest scammers out there (mind you most of them are). A close friend of mine sells for Xerox here in Canada and has told me some of the BS they play with customers. They have this thing called "Flex". The way it works is like this - Lets say a printer is $100,000...

Whats a good entry level digital biz card printer?

I've been looking for a really good entry level machine for doing biz cards in volumes of 500-1000; until we ramp up our biz and get a DI press or something more serious. What entry level Xerox or Konica printers could we use for this? Quality is important, as is registration I would imagine...
