If you are printing volumes over 200K per month I would very much advise a second unit. The volumes make up for the extra investment.

Depends on the type of work and your volumes. Volumes between 30k - 150K are very suited for PRO C901, which is a very productive machine and has shown great print quality so far. You would want to buy the Xerox 800/1000 if you are already a Xerox customer and not able to get rid of them..:)...

In my opinion, it should be an easy choice. If you feel quality is comparable than choose the PRO C901. It will save you a lot of money. In hardware and click pricing.
