Between Sheetfed Coated SWOP and Gracol2006

We're a sheetfed shop using GRACoL2006. Using an IT8.7 chart our plate curve was created to be G7 certified. Our proofer has a spectrophotometer built on to it. Pressmen use densitometers. I'm finally figuring out that our path is to be GRACoL2006 instead of GRACoL2013. That seemed to solve a...

    GRACoL2006 vs GRACoL2013

Press was fingerprinted using an IT8.7 chart and a plate curve to be G7 certified. Is that what you are asking?

    GRACoL2006 vs GRACoL2013

Stephen, Does your explanation above have anything to do with one of my other questions - http://printplanet.com/forums/kodak-systems/33677-prinergy-destination-different-indesign-destination

Prinergy Destination different from InDesign Destination

And how can I upload a better looking screenshot? They look ok before uploading.

Prinergy Destination different from InDesign Destination

InDesign export to PDF the color is converted to Destination - Coated GRACoL2006 (Adobe version). Using the same Destination Profile in Prinergy, when the same file refines it looks more like USWebCoated than GRACoL. I expected to get the same result. Attached are screenshots of Prinergy...

Between Sheetfed Coated SWOP and Gracol2006

Hmmmm. Our presses are printing to G7 standard. But my understanding is that has nothing to do with whether we are using GRACoL or Sheetfed CMYK. I know IDEAlliance suggest to use GRACoL or SWOP to work well with G7. Is this getting me back on path?

    GRACoL2006 vs GRACoL2013

Both came from IDEAlliance. But I'm still testing. Other images seem to be closer to the same, have the look of GRACol2013 in the above images.

    GRACoL2006 vs GRACoL2013

One of the test images I've been using for testing shows a great deal of difference between GRACoL2006 and GRACoL2013. Attached are the Cyan channel screen captures of each profile (left is GRACoL2006, right is GRACoL2013). Quote from IDEAlliance - "GRACoL 2013 is almost identical to GRACoL 2006".

Between Sheetfed Coated SWOP and Gracol2006

This question makes more sense than the previous one . . . When comparing some images saved as SheetfedCoated SWOP and GRACoL2006, the difference is big. On some images I've seen GRACoL2006 move most of the Cyan to the Black channel. Is there a profile that is somewhere in between the two...

    Between USWebCoated SWOP and GRACoL2006

When comparing some images saved as USWebCoated SWOP and GRACoL2006, the difference is big. I've seen GRACoL2006 move most of the Cyan to the Black channel. Is there a profile that is somewhere in between the two? That moves some of the Cyan to the Black channel, but not quite as drastically as...

    EPS specialness

We're a commercial printer and get anything and everything from our customers. Internally we don't use EPS. So, if a customer supplies an image as EPS, unless it is caught during preflight, it is going to print differently than all the other images that convert to GRACoL during the output to PDF.

aligning one PDF on top of another

Command ~ is what we often use, but I was hoping to find a way that when opening two Acrobat files, they would automatically open in the same screen position. We manually position one on top of the other. Just trying to speed things up. :-)

    GRACoL color conversion formula

Is there a formula that decides how GRACoL separates and image? I've tried to get a feel for it by processing several images and I do notice that it usually takes some of the color and moves it to the Black separation. But what is it looking at and how does it determine what to do?

    EPS specialness

Photoshop image saved with US Web Coated SWOP Profile as an EPS. Re-opened in Photoshop preserving embedded profile. Color setting is GRACoL2013 workspace for CMYK images. Under Proof Setup, chose Working Cyan Plate. If it's an EPS it looks just like the embedded profile. Same image, opened in...

aligning one PDF on top of another

You would think Acrobat would have a Preferences as to how you want PDFs to open. Perhaps like always open at top left of screen (instead of cascading).

aligning one PDF on top of another

We have compare tools but sometimes we like to place one PDF on top of another and toggle between the two to see differences. Does anyone know of a way to open one PDF exactly on top of the other, instead of cascading? Thanks, Linda

    GRACoL SWOP and RGB

Differences I found when testing workflow. Photoshop files saved as PDF - if Profiles are Not Included the color doesn't change to Destination even if placed into Illustrator or InDesign and a new PDF is created using Include Destination Profile. Has anyone else seen this? Is this how it's...

    GRACoL SWOP and RGB

Our goal was to have an InDesign PDF that previews like the plates. And I think I finally understand what you've been trying to tell me. Use the customer embedded profiles to keep their color intentions. If the profile is changed, information can be clipped or changed. Final color separations...

    GRACoL SWOP and RGB

Also during testing I noticed that the Cyan separation looks a little different if first embedded into Illustrator and then into InDesign.
