    Database label software

I wonder if perhaps you could use InDesign's Data Merge function? Regarding barcodes, many (linear) barcode symbologies tend to be nothing more than a font which you may be able to find online. pd

    Remote Prepress

Hi all, With many companies having employees work from home, bossman asked me if prepress...could...work from home if it should become necessary . I was wondering if anyone else on here has looked into this and/or gone down this route at all? If so, what sorts of hurdles did you encounter? How...

    Apogee vs Prinect

I am a long time Apogee user and have only used the Pressroom Manager portion of Prinect. I can provide you my thoughts on Apogee if you wish? pd

    Service Agreement

Hi all, I've been asked to put together a document that we would provide to new or potential customers that describes, among other things, our quality tolerances. Sort of a "our promise to you" in terms of quality and service. I would be most grateful if anyone would be willing to share theirs...

PDF Choking APPE - Best Practice?

Is flattening transparency in Acrobat before handing it off to rip an option? pd

    Content Proofing

Unfortunately, your options are fairly limited. One option might be to look into an ImpoProof (www.impoproof.com) which is designed to do 2-sided proofing. I believe the workflow would be that you export 8-bit TIFF images from your Prinergy system to the ImpoProof PC and then it controls the...

    Latest Indesign issue

    Print Variable Data PDFs

FusionPro Desktop might be a good fit. They also have a server flavor as well. I believe their subscription price per year is $1500 for the Desktop flavor. https://www.fusionpro.com pd

    Apogge, tiff 1 Bit Files

My guess is that a PIF card won't be an option as I don't see a port on your platesetter labeled, "PIF1". If you get a RasterBlaster PC, I'm thinking it would just need 2 ethernet ports; one that would connect to your network so that Apogee can send TIFF files to the RB PC and the second one...

    Apogge, tiff 1 Bit Files

@masterpc, just out of curiosity, how much is the OpenConnect license? pd

    Apogge, tiff 1 Bit Files

Depends on the machine and configuration AFAIK. Some machines may need a P2E (PIF to Ethernet) converter box. Prior to that, there were PIF interface cards that could be installed in the Apogee server that connected directly to the platesetter. pd

    Non-printing background (Pitstop)

Does Prisma support running Pitstop Action Lists within itself? If so, could you add an Action List that removes the layer by name before it's ripped? pd

    Apogge, tiff 1 Bit Files

Although I am not certain if a RasterBlaster box could be connected to your Avalon (it seems logical that you...should...be able to though), then you would use a TIFF Platesetter task processor in Apogee instead of the AvalonN4 task processor to send the files to the RasterBlaster PC. pd

    Apogge, tiff 1 Bit Files

I am not aware of any name changes so I'm pretty sure that if you had the OpenConnect license, you would see it somewhere in that list and then it would be followed by a "1" to indicate you have it. pd

    cxf freeware ?

Do you by chance have Adobe Illustrator? I believe it can open CXF files. pd

    Apogge, tiff 1 Bit Files

Hi masterpc, I am going to assume by your question that you have 1-bit TIFF images already created (outside of Apogee). If that is the case, ernierad is correct in that you would need an OpenConnect license. The best way to find out if you have this license is first check the 'System Overview'...

    Non-printing background (Pitstop)

I had a minute so I went back and tinkered with this and I think I got it to work. Here are the Action List commands: Select all Add background Select last added objects Assign objects to layer with name Select all Select layers by name Change layer print state Cheers, pd

    Non-printing background (Pitstop)

I...believe...Pitstop offers layer functionality so you might be able to add a layer, assign the object to a layer, and set the layer to non-printing. Look at the stock collection of actions that come with Pitstop and look for the Layers category. pd
