Hybrid office and light production printer - is there such a thing?

Sounds like you already have what you are looking for. Just get someone who knows what they are doing to fix the firewall issue. I use Ricoh c5310s in a combination production and office walk-up setup and the main issues are warming up time (can take 2 minutes before printing if it's asleep)...

Ricoh c5310 - fiery locking up after copy 62 or 63 of a booklet

Not variable was just trying to print 100 copies of the same booklet. Each time was the same exact job. Didn't dare to risk it today on a different booklet so just did batches of 40

Ricoh c5310 - fiery locking up after copy 62 or 63 of a booklet

Thanks - yeah I stumbled on that accidentally before I saw your reply. Seems to work half of the time. Very weird.

Ricoh c5310 - fiery locking up after copy 62 or 63 of a booklet

It's also doing this after running out of paper. Once replenished nothing happens

Ricoh c5310 - fiery locking up after copy 62 or 63 of a booklet

This has happened twice now, first attempt at booklet 62 of 300 and the second on booklet 63. It fails to start the next copy, the blue status light flashes, lots of fans etc are staying active but nothing is happening. I have to restart the fiery and send the job from scratch. Any ideas?

    Noob question on booklet bleeds

Thanks all. I'll be using Totalflow prep for imposition

    Noob question on booklet bleeds

    Great, thank you

    Noob question on booklet bleeds

I will be printing some A4 booklets (centre stapled, printed onto SRA3 with 3 side offline trim). However I'm not entirely sure what I should specify for bleeds. Am I right in thinking that the binding edge does not require bleed as it will not be trimmed? Should I then ask for a three sided...

Does your Ricoh machine handle tabs well?

I don't know what machine you are using but I print a lot of tabs on c5310s. It's not true that you need jobmaster for tabs. Until recently I was printing everything via PS connection from Totalflow Prep into CWS and any leftover tabs would appear at the end of the job. So not kicked out, but...

Bizarre issue with Ricoh flipping every fourth page 180 degrees

    - Under finishing tab in CWS job properties what option have you selected under "shift mode?" And does changing it affect the issue? - also under Finishing - is "rotate 180" set to "off?" - Is there anything defined under VDP settings in job properties such as record length etc? - Does it...

Talk to me about foil printers

Yes fair point hadn't thought of that

What brand of paper do you use?

I have two of those punches and do sometimes have issues. Sounds like something a service call should be able to sort out.

    Are J75's still worth buying?

I'm not an expert but it sounds like your biggest problem with this machine is your service provider and I suspect they may be fobbing you off constantly. I had an issue recently where prints would come out tinged pink on one machine after a few hundred impressions. First tech said it was...

    Are J75's still worth buying?

Not questioning a second printer. I have two identical machines and wouldn't want to be without a second one for inevitable downtime and partial downtime due to quality issues. Just questioning whether a used old machine without service is going to be something you can actually depend upon...

Talk to me about foil printers

I saw a Peleman Flat Bed Foil Printer in a store and the owner gave me a quick demo. I am thinking about getting one, primary use is for gold foil cover text on hard bound documents. Think bound thesis but in textured hard bound fabric covers. Previously I was looking at getting a gold foil...

    Are J75's still worth buying?

How much longer do you have on your lease/service contract? With your eventual new machine try and get a zero clicks service contract. We just pay a negligible monthly service charge for our Ricoh's with zero bundled prints

    Are J75's still worth buying?

Yeah I have my doubts about the suitability of an old machine with questionable reliability without a service contract as being a peace-of-mind backup machine when you are desperate. In that situation you want something that just works, no? Is this not an opportunity to improve the kit and...

Need help optimizing jobs with tabs and mixed media and mixed colors on Ricoh C9500

I've got this figured out on my C5310 but the process is similar for the 9200. I went from a 14 second delay on duplex (7 seconds before and 7 seconds after inserting a tab) down to zero delay before insertion and 3.7 seconds delay after insertion running duplex sheets with tabs. When...

    Ricoh 9210 Registration Snafus

When you say it's off by a quarter inch - is it uniform? I.e. no skew or anything just not aligned as you would expect? Sounds like a setting somewhere in the fiery if so.

    Xerox C60 or Ricoh C5200s?

Gaz you can get a basic shift stack finishing unit without the booklet maker for the 5210 - either SR4120 or SR5070 These were used on other models as well so I reckon you might find one used somewhere for not much. There's a site in the US selling one new for just $795...
