    Thick Business Cards/Board??

Yeh we do the same, I use spray mount and by hand and eye place them on each other. You can get double sided adhesive sheets, never tried it but seems like it might be tricky. You can get adhesive coating machines where you run the sheet through before placing. As Magnus59 said, it takes time...

    Newbie Pricing Help

It comes down to whether you trim with single cuts or double cuts. Although not always needed I personally use double cuts on everything. So bleed or not doesn't matter. I use double cuts as personally I can get a more accurate result for the client and avoid unexpected problems when trimming...

    Newbie Pricing Help

For me bleed wouldn't be a factor in pricing. At the end of the day you have so many up on a sheet and to us the rest of the factors should be the same. Just a different artwork setup and trimming. Where are you feeling its gonna cost more?

    Nexfinity vs Iridesse Vs Igen

That's interesting, do you mean the print is prone to scratching?

    Nexfinity vs Iridesse Vs Igen

Sorry I wouldn't be familiar with high end presses but just looking at the Nexfinity would the HP Indigo be comparable? To be honest I know the Iridesse is an amazing press but why would Xerox be offering a 475k per month press for a client running 1.5m per month??? I'd be concerned on downtime...

    Print problem v180

I think the op's problem is different, looks like a 10% screen across the page. Make a photocopy of something to eliminate the rip/software. I'd change drums around to see if it alters, run a calibration too.

    Difficulty dialing in InDesign Color

Have you a custom colour profile for your stock? Calibrating doesn't mean much if you're calibrating on 80gsm bond and using same profile for 300gsm gloss. When you say "we just threw it in Fiery and printed it", that's not exactly how it's suppose to work anyway. But obviously something isn't...

    Difficulty dialing in InDesign Color

To be honest if a "graphic designer" was discussing how something looks on screen versus print I'd be questioning that alone. Sure just lower the brightness of your screen and they'll match in no time ;) Once you have your colour profile correctly set in fiery, send the printed samples to the...

    Pamphlet/Booklet/Book Layout Software

We used to use indesign for everything but I now switched to Fiery Impose. A lot more flexibility and faster with less chance of mistakes. For booklets we can easily add creep, gutters etc. Just to note the impose license is for one computer but is transferable so doesn't need to be on the...

    Help xerox versant 180

But do you select one of those profiles when in the job parameters of what you're printing? If you're printing on 300gsm coated you should be setting that to gloss 250gsm for a better match. I'm sure there must be a way of creating a custom colour profile for your stock but I'm not sure how...

    Help xerox versant 180

Could you explain some of your process. When you are printing a job in command workstation, under job properties in the colour - then basic settings, do you select an output profile? You should have some default Xerox profiles for certain weight stocks which you can select the closest to what...

    Help xerox versant 180

You need to make a color profile for each stock. Do you have fiery color profiler software? This will set the correct colour to the stock and then you calibrate the profile every so often to keep that accurate. Magenta could be drum or developer. If you've run density check then only other...

Xerox square fold trimmer. Any good?

Just curious with the square fold, what's the process with creasing, if needed? On heavy covers with correct grain direction and spine printed coverage does it require a crease(s)?

Seeking advice on entry level production press

I'd wonder whether you'd get serious click offers on 5k a month. That may be work in itself to achieve. On another note op. I'd heavily test your booklet finishers (offline or online) to make sure you don't need a creaser. If you're on 270gsm approx, depending on grain direction and toner...

    20 mil Plastic Gift Cards

I had a Xerox tech tell me about a local printer (ireland) that uses his iridesse (x2) to print these and has expanded it into his primary product. He prints fronts and back separately and "glues" them together. He supplies all the top brands now in Ireland with gift cards etc. I think he...
