Who creates the artwork for your online print shop

Canva is okay, it's mostly the users that aren't. I have issues with making complex work accessible, because you run into anyone with a phone calling themselves graphic designers. Owning a hammer doesn't make you a contractor, and owning a ruler doesn't make you an architect, but Canva makes...

    Discontinuing Blazer???

We order Topkote in all weights. Not sure how widely available it is, but it runs really well on our Imagepress 10000.

    Recommendations for corner stapling machine?

    Maybe something like this? https://www.mybinding.com/max-eh-110f-flat-clinch-heavy-duty-electric-stapler.html

    duplex on ricoh c7100

That's pretty typical. Just duplex it landscape. The 5.5 inches is too short for the roller gaps so it'll jam, but 8.5 is long enough.

    Mixtiles.com

Not sure where to get it in your area, but it's called Gatorfoam Board. I'd imagine your paper supplier would carry it, or a wide format supplier.

Xerox 550 vs Versant 180....Post installation regret.

Don't use tray alignment. Use crop marks and a cutter. Your machine isn't out of alignment, you just don't know how to use it.

Starting a shop for political printing

It's a smaller toner particle suspended in liquid. It's a toner press, it's NOT ink, despite what HP likes to tout.

Get deposits also. Political clients love to not pay you if they lose.

Canon C910 vs Xerox Versant 4100

I've never run the Versant line, but the C910 is basically a high end office printer. You're not gonna get the reliability of a production printer out of it. Canon: Duty cycles up to 500,000 LTR images / recommended monthly volume up to 167,000 LTR images Versant: Duty cycle up to...

Paper wrinkling (aka feathering or skeletel marks) on Oce Varioprint 6250

Just a couple questions: Do you have print guard units? When we had them it did what you're describing. I've never seen it happen without them though. Are you keeping up with clean sheets/spiral cleaner maintenance? We used to go through OPCs more than usual until I started only replacing the...

I need a new B&W machine, opinions on the Titan?

Our shop has a 6320 and it's a tank. Pros: Insanely fast, especially on duplex work Great front/back registration Every tray can be an insert tray, so it's great for jobs with mixed b&w and color. PrismaSync controller is super easy to use. Most of the maintenance is simple and if you keep up...

    Return Address Labels

Avery has a template for damn near everything, and from there you can likely find an offbrand version of their stock that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Have you tried flipping the envelopes 180° to see if it doesn't do it?

    customer stock

We do it pretty regularly with business card shells without issue. I was always told about the arcing as well by an old Ikon tech when I worked at Kinko's. My Canon techs when I asked just looked at me like "why the hell wouldn't it work?", so maybe the arcing is an old thing people used to say...

The great thing about the corona virus

There's a lot of science and articles saying otherwise, but I'm not going to waste my time arguing with someone who has already made up their mind.

The great thing about the corona virus

Clean energy is feasible. It's only expensive because the investment has been so low. Flat screen TVs used to cost $10k, now they cost like $400. Early adoption is always expensive, but if it's actually adopted all of the companies will switch to finding proactive ways to make it cheaper and...

Prismasync print server versus ImagePress Server (Fiery)

I'd demo them both just to see if you have a preference. I've been using PrismaSync for about 7 years now. It's come a long way since I first got it. I find the media libraries to be a lot less clunky than Fiery, and most of the stuff you can do with the printer is well tied to the controller...

    Flawless BW production printer

Truly, that is some massive volume. We severely under run ours, but my boss has said he has no plans to ever replace it, so he didn't care that we'd have to grow into it. We're only at 33million on ours. My tech said they have a few at different sites with 500 million that run just as well as...

    Flawless BW production printer

You're asking for a unicorn. It's like asking for a car that doesn't need oil changes or tire rotations. That said, if you're gonna run the hell out of something, the Varioprint 6000 line will run 24/7 with very little service requirements.

    Social Media

This is an issue I have. Especially since you can make your account private to non-friends. If I vent about my co-workers or boss on my account why is that grounds for termination? It's not like I went to the local news and put the company on blast. As long as it's not forward facing I don't...
