    DeskPack: Suite12 Rollout Date?

My understanding is that Adobe completely re-did the way plug ins had to be written in CS6. Im hoping that once esko gets to that standard, the future versions will be pretty simplistic. Here is hoping so at least

    EskoArtworks, Equinox?

Yes, Equinox does output a PDF. But, are you looking to convert both CT and LW or just LW? The reason I ask, if you are bringing CT's into the mix, you probably want to do this in a non automated way so you can view the result and tweak the settings when needed. Esko does have a automated...

    Automated Barcode Replacement

The esko solution is really good for templates and variants of products. But you are correct. When all of your jobs are one off jobs even their automated solution is a manual solution.

    Automated Barcode Replacement

I can speak of the esko solution. It is now called "Dynamic Bar codes" Its a illustrator plug in that does make "live" dynamic bar codes. They can be edited for content and adjusted for scale etc... If you use their Automation Engine workflow this can also update the bar codes in the PDF (If...

Generating Composite CIP3 Data with nexus

All I did was make new workflow. Type is "Basic", Outputs is "File Copy" and then click the left check box next to file copy. That will insert the CIP module in the proper place. I/m guessing that the green thing you are talking about is a nexus group. Nothing important. I'm running Nexus 9.1...

Generating Composite CIP3 Data with nexus

Here is an example of both ways. You will see I have 2 cip 3 modules in the workflow. One is after the RIP. THis will make a ppf file for every separation. The other cip 3 is under the Rip. This will make 1 composite ppf for all separations.

    Latest version of Nexus, thoughts

We did go from 2 boxes to 1. Hard to say if you can depending on how many jobs you are running. Back in the day we had 2 boxes because we were pre-ripping all files in our links and pages workflow. Now we are using all PDF so the only rip we do is for screening. 1 box is working well for us.

    Bad trapping in Nexus 9.5.7

I leave it on. It will slow down the trapping a small bit, but it is worth it. It will detect leaks that you cannot zoom in close enough to see in programs like illustrator.

    Bad trapping in Nexus 9.5.7

If you look at the file with a good PDF editor like Neo and really zoom in you will see the small gap's. See attached screen shot

    Latest version of Nexus, thoughts

Lets see if I can help out a little more. Is nexus being phased out? Yes and No. Esko will eventually stop development on new functionality of Nexus. They are looking to migrate users to their new workflow Automation Engine. This being said, they have continued to put out new DOT releases and...

    Latest version of Nexus, thoughts

Yes, PDF processor brings to nexus a whole new set of modules that are all native PDF. Like trapping, pitstop, join pages, split pages, etc....... It also adds a new rip kernal to the nexus system that is native PDF. So no longer do you need to flatten or anything. The thing I like about the PDF...

    Latest version of Nexus, thoughts

you can add the PDF engine to your current nexus. Nexus has three flavors: Nexus RIP (classic CT&LW), Processor (Artpro automation) & the PDF Processor (Native PDF workflow and RIP) The thing I would be careful of is legacy files. Do you have any PSTI's archived that you might need to run in...

    Ae 12

we are using it on a R&D box before upgrading. I like a lot of the new task that they have added like the ability to run scripts, join pages. Viewer has some new tools for flexo. Search builder is better. In all I would say it is a good upgrade.

    Nexus JDF Export

Im guessing you don't have the license for it. I tested it out just by creating a workflow (select file->trap->export JDF) and it worked fine.
