Good Alternative to the HP Laserjet 5000

I was thinking a used Mitsubishi DPM which I think works with our current plate material which is the paper backed MEGA Silver Master. Actually PricelineNegotiator I noticed a thread where you mention having a DPM 2340, any input on this?

Good Alternative to the HP Laserjet 5000

When you put it that way it sounds a lot dumber but yes for now. Like I said before I'd really like to just like to get a platesetter that uses silvermaster plates.

Good Alternative to the HP Laserjet 5000

We are running a duplicator and we've made 2 attempts, 3 years apart from one another but never got the laser plates working. There's a thread about it on here somewhere but long story short our pressman who is our only pressman and has worked at my company for 25 years is either unwilling or...

Good Alternative to the HP Laserjet 5000

We are currently printing with an HP Laserjet 5000 at 85 lpi and then shooting plates on a camera. We are sick of maintaining our (2nd) aging Laserjet and would like to replace with something new. Are there any alternatives that can print out of acrobat at 85lpi? We are using Windows 7 and the...

Difference between Production Printer and Office Copier?

Yep, if we are leasing it's going to be a dollar buyout... And actually I think I was wrong about the one click 11x17, I think it is one click for any sheet size (the limit is the capability of the machine)

Difference between Production Printer and Office Copier?

The click charge we've been offered on the Canon ImagePress C800 is .05 color and .01 black up to 11x17. We'll be running all 2 up so it halves our current click count. Also the lease we've seen is an FMV lease rather than a dollar buy out.

Difference between Production Printer and Office Copier?

Thanks everyone for the advice. Used is definitely on our radar as long as there is someone out there who will do a service plan for us whether that is direct with the manufacturer or through a local third party. There don't seem to be a lot of third-parties interested in taking on a production...

Difference between Production Printer and Office Copier?

We do approximately 330k clicks annually. 300k is black, 30k is color.

Difference between Production Printer and Office Copier?

Obviously this wouldn't even be a consideration for a commercial printer but in the business we are in there is just more flexibility on quality. We print almost everything duplexed on 20lb and 65lb all uncoated and finish off-line on a bookletmaker. So super simple stuff. No real flexibility...

Difference between Production Printer and Office Copier?

We've outsourced our color work and done our bw in house work on a combination of offset and a Canon IR105 for years. Quality is majorly lacking but we've gotten away with it because, though we have customers that we make money on, we are not straight pay for print. We are at the point that we...

Will Any of the Manufacturers Do a Service Plan on Used Printers

We are working on replacing an ImageRunner that was purchased used and serviced locally by a 3rd party on a service agreement. The company won't service anything that would be considered a producton machine though and that's where we are headed now. We have pretty low usage so a higher click...

Will Any of the Manufacturers Do a Service Plan on Used Printers

Yes, we've been talking to a rep. About to break the news to him that we are strongly considering used. I highly doubt we'll be able to get a service plan with the click charge we've been offered on a lease.

Will Any of the Manufacturers Do a Service Plan on Used Printers

Eh, we might consider buying a used one direct from the manufacturer I suppose.

Will Any of the Manufacturers Do a Service Plan on Used Printers

Does anyone know if any of the manufacturers will do a service plan on a used printer? Canon is pushing a lease with what seems to be a reasonable click charge. I'm wondering if we could buy a used Canon and get on a service plan with Canon. Anybody have any knowledge or experience with this?

    Edge printing????

Call me stupid but I googled it. Not sure if this is the industry method or just the amateur diy method but... Stack the cards then come up with a way to clamp down on the stack. Spray paint (or foam brush paint). Let dry.

Looking for Bindery in Michigan with Squareback/Square Spine Capability

I'll have to check my notes but I'm pretty sure I called and they can't do it but Printwell in Taylor can as well as a place in Ann Arbor whose name I have since forgotten. Would be nice to find something closer but looks like we might have our problem solved. Next step: by our own used machine.

Looking for Bindery in Michigan with Squareback/Square Spine Capability

Bummer... this would be an offset job probably. Anybody have an offline unit or one inline with a collator/bookletmaker? If there is someone that would be running a unit offline and hand squarebacking it, we could actually deliver saddle stitched booklets to you. It's 5.5 x 8.5, 68 page +...

Polyester plates printed on Laser printers

I'm curious about a more educated answer to your questions... more specifically why the HP 5000 and 5100 are THE preferred printers for laser plates. Here's what I know: I think it's a variety of things but I know that when you use the right settings on the 5000 and tell it that it's printing...
