Cleaning Water System On CX102... how often?

Respectfully, I would get in the general practice of changing water out weekly, unless you have a Floclear system and are constantly replenishing. Founts (regardless of manufacturer) will have a working lifespan. Some contain organic gums while others have synthetic gums. That said, newer...

    Aqueous Coating Cracks

CKL - Good points. If he's running a roller coater, than BCM is irrelevant. He can certainly check his coating stripe and measure viscosity using a Zahn #3. Aqazi - Is this happening with Gloss, Satin, or Matte? Or all coatings?

    Aqueous Coating Cracks

Mud Cracking. The coating is drying faster than the ink underneath. As the coating is applied to the film of ink(s) underneath, it's crawling giving the 'Alligator Skin' look. Talk to your coating suppliers about a slightly slower drying coating.

    HP360 - Latex G7 Targeted Color Calibration

Pauly, Thanks for chiming in. I've created media profiles, then applied the destination ICC. I've tried applying device link profiles with the intentions of driving all the Deltas for RGB and CMYK to the lowest possible. If submitting G7 gray scale, beautiful. G7 targeted - not happening...

    HP360 - Latex G7 Targeted Color Calibration

Stephen, The results were the same. Both Red Trap came in at Delta E of 12. Regardless of what actions were taken, no positive improvement was made. This is why I believe that it is what it is and it's just the limitations of the machine. Gray balance - Delta E under 2. Yellow alone was...

    HP360 - Latex G7 Targeted Color Calibration

No offense taken at all. I'm reaching out for assistance if it can be done. As mentioned, I can achieve a G7 grayscale once calibrated - not targeted. I imported device link profiles, almost the same results as a paper linearization and applying the Gracol 2013 icc. This leads me to believe...

    HP360 - Latex G7 Targeted Color Calibration

You can't select specific targeted ink densities on this machine with the way Onyx works. You can only select total ink limits with a pass count. Having come from an offset background, this threw me off too.. Tried 300% 12 pass, 340% 16 pass. Same results.

    HP360 - Latex G7 Targeted Color Calibration

I was wondering if anyone has successfully done a G7 Targeted (Not just a G7 Gray Scale) calibration on an HP360 latex? If so, can you please elaborate what rip/work-flow, ink limits, etc. were used in the process? I tried curving it, tried device link profiles, tried an optimization - no luck...

ink density and conductivity measurement tool

Ink Density - Hand Held Spectrophotometer (Try X-Rite or Techkon) Fountain Solution Conductivity - pH and Conductivity Meter (Try Myron L or Hannah) Is this for pressroom Q.C. purposes or for ink manufacturing? I'm familiar with printers adjusting pH of inks within Flexo applications but not...

Lining Problem in Ink Duct Roller

I think the point is that this is a Toyo senior ink tech trying to reach out in cyber space for tech help. Why wouldn't you ask one of your fellow co-workers, field tech service reps., or distributors for assistance with trouble shooting on YOUR OWN PRODUCT. Surely there is someone out there...

    Idealliance Gracol 2013

Bret, We on this forum are all here to positively communicate, network, and share positive contributions via debate. I applaud your chiming in but you don't think that the tolerances are a bit stretched for compliance now? Printing with B*-2 and B*-6 and still achieving tolerance is insane...

    Idealliance Gracol 2013

In my opinion, GRACol 2013 was released premature. #1 - The white point has changed from a b* of -2 to -4 with a plus or minus of 2. This means that in order to be "Certified" on any G7 submission, you can be anywhere from a B* of -2 to a -6. That couldn't be farther apart on opposite ends of...

    Komori 10 color

If it is starting as picture framing on the plate and starts moving inwards, it is certainly "Counter Etching." I've seen this with all major plate brands over the years. This is not exclusive to one particular plate, brand press, or offset roller company. Counter Etching is a direct relation...

    Komori 10 color

It sounds like "Counter Etching" of the plates or "Emulsion Retention" on the plate surface. Just curious - Does it start like a picture framing on the plate and work itself back into the image area?

    Shop humidity

There is also a company with a world of experience called Draabe. They have installed units in several locations that I am aware of. At one point, Prisco (Printers' Service) was reselling their units. I'm not sure if they still have contractual agreements but they can answer the appropriate...

    milling of offset ink

You should not be concerned about being embarrassed regarding this subject. The bottom line is that if you are having "Performance Concerns" with the product that you are using, your vendor needs to step up to the table and address the issues. This is where service comes into play. There are...

    Komori PDC-S 1 support

There's actually a guy in New Jersey that does a good job. I have personally referred clients to him for repair and the equipment has come back in working order/calibrated. Can't remember the company name but here's the number and name I have: 201-657-5134 Raphael He's fixed a few old X-Rite...

    Air Purifier

Assuming your neighbor is using Low-VOC clean up solvents, how about politely asking them if there is an alternative with lower odor that they might be able to use? I know it sounds sarcastic.. Every manufacturer has at least 3 to 4 different washes to accomodate the needs of the printer...
