    AGFA Apogee Prepress 8.5 - Normalizing PDF's from PDF/X-4 to PDF/X1a

I just looked at the Apogee setting you are referring to Stephen, and it was dated 2008. A lot have happened with Apogee Prepress since. I will try to get an answer from AGFA.

    AGFA Apogee Prepress 8.5 - Normalizing PDF's from PDF/X-4 to PDF/X1a

Thanks Stephen I will check it out! I think the problem is how Apogee separates preflightprofiles and fixes (like flattening). It annoys me how this could not be a standard feature..

    AGFA Apogee Prepress 8.5 - Normalizing PDF's from PDF/X-4 to PDF/X1a

Any Apogee users here? We are using AGFA Apogee Prepress 9 and I have problem with flattening/normalizing PDF's. I've contacted AGFA but they doesn't seem to understand what I want to achieve. I want to set up a "simple" hot-ticket workflow that correctly converts different PDF's (Bad MS PDF's...

    Uncoated paper proof

We are proofing Fogra47 (PSO Uncoated) with an Epson 4900 on matte stock and get a very good match with our uncoated offset print. We are using GMG ColorProof with noise effect and missing dots effect. Our customers would not accept a coated proof when the print would be uncoated.

    Contract Proofs

We (as a printer) are happy to accept an external proof as long as the proof is according to Fogra39 or Fogra47, since these are the Fogra standards that we print. Our biggest issue would be that the customer wants to print on a paper that doesn't match the white point of these standards. We...

Thank you Stephen! I think that will do it! I need to grasp around this NOT option any day soon :)

Remove CMYK icc tags in a PDF

I got Pitstop Pro 12 and I would like to create an Action List that removes all CMYK ICC tags on images and graphics in a PDF. I want to keep RGB tags. I've been trying to use 'Select by color space' but it doesn't work for all objects. Can someone please give me a hand? Here is my testfile...

GMG ColorProof v 5.6 (Calibrating new media)

I've been trying to add and calibrate a custom media for my Epson 4900 (With SpectroProofer) but I can't get my head around it! I've downloaded and read all GMG tutorials on the subject but still can't manage to do it. Is there any helpful soul out there who got a good wizard with all the...

    Can you export this file?

How do you confirm that the conversion has been made? I just did the test again and at first i thought a conversion had been done because that what Acrobat Output Preview told me and Pitstop Inspector swell. But when I removed the embedded GCR-profile in the PDF with Pitstop the pure K is...

    A little color test

Conclusion: Random monitors are good enough, no calibration and color management is needed? :)

    Pre press Operators/Technicians and Sales

Intergraf (European Federation for Print) did an interesting research and report on the subject that they call Future Skills in the Graphical Industry. If you like you can download the report here: Future Skills in the Graphical Industry Best regards,

    Pre press Operators/Technicians and Sales

I think that Prepress operators will go in two directions: 1. Workflow specialist and optimizer (automation) 2. Media Output Operator (different media not just print) Best regards,

    A little color test

Yes but I think Gordo wants a visual comparison.

    FONT MANAGEMENT UTILITY - What's good..what isn't??

We have been using Extensis Suitcase Fusion for many years. But since InDesign got the feature to activate font's in the Document fonts folder I almost never use Suitcase anymore. And we are very rarely getting Quark-documents.. Adobe Typekit in Adobe Cloud looks interesting aswell but I have...

    A little color test

If you follow steps 1-6 in my previous post the result will be what you are looking for, a visual comparison. The word simple is relative. :) I do not know any other way of doing it, unless you gather all monitors in the same room as in your example photo. That depends what you are doing. In...

    Epson 9900 banding issue

Interesting.. I've seen the same thing on our Epson 9900 a while ago. I've also seen similar problems on a Epson 4900 on light matte coated stock. Are you able to control the suction? Maybe increased suction will fix the problem? Or maybe it's a humidity problem? He you tried to forward...

    A little color test

Hi Gordo, interesting test! I think this test is impossible to execute without a spectrophotometer or colorimeter. You need to measure this to get useful data. A screenshot wouldn't tell you anything about how the image look on the specific display, not even give you an indication. If the...

    Can you export this file?

Yes I've also been seeing this problem for many years now. Very random. Sometimes InDesign (from CS4 until today) just lost the ability to recognize that the document doesn't match the color settings and won't give you any warning. Very frustrating. Best regards,
