Moire pattern on offset anicolor press

Gordo, the attached graphic shows some additional tests we've done. I have a hard time believing it's a problem with the anilox at this point since the pattern does not show when we image individual separations by themselves (i.e. only print the cyan, then only print magenta, etc). Wouldn't we...

Moire pattern on offset anicolor press

"Alois" - We also had the idea that it might be a problem with the Anilox. However we are told by Heidelberg that this anilox uses a 10 micron cell size which should not interfere with the line screen at frequencies over 200 lpi. Not sure if this is true or not. If this was the case though why...

Moire pattern on offset anicolor press

HPS is enabled on the RIP. If I turn it off (we've tried everything) I get the same pattern but repeated much more often (closer together). If we try more standard angles we've been told we might get interference with the anilox itself and are hence loath to do so.

Moire pattern on offset anicolor press

We've had a problem with our SM-52 anicolor off and on depending on artwork coloration with a moire pattern on certain tones, usually browns, and grays. We've discussed with Heidelberg several times and were told to run with a different screen angle. Come to find out it's the exact set of angles...

Can Eye-one Pro on Konica be used with other printers

your RIP should support the Eye-one for the other devices for this to work. We use ours to switch between Creo and Fiery RIPs all the time, just walk over to the other RIP and plug it in, use it to calibrate and then back to the other printer. Never tried it on Onyx (drives our wide format work)...

max page (over)sizes in light production machines km, xerox etx

Only thing that will do that size consistently with good feed is the Meteor digital press. Unless of course you want to go with big production presses like the Fuji J press or HP Indigo 10000

KM 7000 wont print linin well at all

our KM C6000 does pretty well if you adjust the transfer voltages. -25 seems to be pretty good. We saw some prints off the newer Ricoh 5100 color machine which we were told uses an AC (rather than DC) power to transfer the image to the sheet and it was filled in better than anything I've ever seen.

    Transparency issues in Digital Printing

Not sure what you're dealing with in the File but about the only time we see transparency issues on our 700 anymore are when the file contains transparency with spot colors. We'll notice this if we run a pre-flight (enfocus pitstop) and either convert the file to CMYK using Enfocus Pitstop or...

    FM Screening Implementation Process

Does anyone know of a good source (person, printed guide, etc) to implementing and testing a move to FM screening? I've read Gordo's posts on the benefits, and a number of other sources including information on my specific RIP and CTP system. However I'm still a bit shaky about taking the...

    Xerox D110 Issues

We recently purchased a Xerox D110 to replace an aging Ricoh 1350. We have had several issues that if we had known about we would have definitely purchased something else. The machine itself seems to be a workhorse, we've run about 750K on it in a month and have seen the technician once...

Really need feedback from Xerox 700i users (trying decide between C6000 and 700i)

Just to throw my two cents in here...we own 4 Xerox 700/770/700i boxes (mix of these three) and have been quite pleased with them. We also own one KM C6000. We purchased a Xerox 700 initially out of these machines and realized that there were a number of things that we didn't like: 1. Color...

Need outdoor adhesive substrate and printer advice

pworden, just to make sure you're on the same page you DO NOT want a UV printer to do wraps with. When I say UV (Ultraviolet) I mean a printer that prints a UV sensitive ink that it immediately cures with a UV lamp. This type of printer will not work for wraps due to not being able to stretch...

    Need RIP Advice

Xitron makes a good version of the Harlequin RIP. This is what we use and have been happy with it. There are also a number of other vendors who do as well though.

Xerox Colopress 800 with a CREO?? Bad or good?

I have no experience with the 800 but cut my teeth on Fiery's. One of our 700's has an attached Creo which is the first I've used, everything else being EFI products. I really like the Creo and the layout, functionality on the front end. However my main beef with Creo is that they NEVER update...

Mid Volume Bookletmaker - opinions and options

We currently have a CP Bourg BDF (Bookletmaker) with BST-d collators (2 towers, twenty bins). It has quite a few cycles on it and we've had quite a bit of trouble off and on for the last year. It's always been under service but lately we've been unable to do smaller CD size booklets on it. The...

Halo on plate Imaged on Screen PTR4100

okay so after looking over the drum carefully it appears to pristine, no scratches, no foreign material of any consequence. However this morning I ran a test plate with a full image area and the spot is now in a different area of the plate so it must be moving around. Any thoughts in light of...

Halo on plate Imaged on Screen PTR4100

Mazengh, I initially thought it might be something on the drum, I have not looked at it yet but I did look very carefully at the plate to make sure it wasn't bent or bowed out in the non-imaged area, it's perfectly flat and the plate looks flawless prior to imaging. I'll look closely at the drum...

Halo on plate Imaged on Screen PTR4100

We recently had a tail clamp give up and the plate flapped a few times prior to someone hitting the off switch on our Platerite 4100. We got new clamps, reattached them everything seems to be working fine. However now we're getting a spot on the plate that looks a bit like a halo, where it's not...

3 and 4 part printing industry standards

The press should be laying these down the ink on these sheets within several thousandths of an inch from sheet to sheet if they are being printed on a sheetfed press. As far as industry tolerances though on a job like this it should be reasonably accurate, at least accurate enough that it's not...

UV coating that looks like linen finish - or applying uv coating to linen paper

I had a customer bring a sample card that she liked into our shop today. It was a full color print with a UV (high gloss looking) coating. This was on a linen cover stock. From looking at the piece I thought it was either one of two things. 1. A linen finish stock with a clay coating to prevent...
