    Cockpit on Lion?

Marko, that was awesome info, I had to remove that entry otherwise cockpit would not lunch. I've got my new iMac with Lion and so far everything runs great. There is annoying popup when lunching Signa "You can't open the application PrinectSignaStationLaunch.exe because PowerPC applications are...

    Cockpit on Lion?

While I am sure official support for Lion is coming at a later date from Heidelberg, has anyone actually tested to see if cockpit runs on Lion without major issues? If you tested, please post your experience. We are getting soon new Mac which is preloaded with Lion so I have to make a decision...

    Compare PDF-Files

Adobe Acrobat has it, although my experience has been poor with it, mostly it choke and I could not get what I wanted. This was with Acrobat 9, since there is Acrobat X, maybe it is improved but I did not have chance to test it yet. Callas PDF toolbox has it too, I used trial version and it...

    digital watermarking

You can give them watermarked PDF that is locked and it takes 10 seconds to remove locked protection and another 15 to remove watermark so it's not really safe. I do not do design and usually don't have need to lock PDF's but there could be good service for online soft proofing that will keep...

Give them 72 dpi JPEG of your work that should display just fine on screen but will not print that well.

    Physical Storage of Dies

Although our dies have docket number on them, we have the actual numbering system for dies that is primary. Each new die gets assigned unique number under which it is catalogued, this number is than recorded in docket system as well. Either way, simple spread sheet an/or binder with laser...

Pitstop 10 is driving me nuts

I decided to skip 10, I am stuck at 9 at the moment and still hate it. They have shown complete disregard for user interface and improvement from version to version are not that big to justify expense (except for big leaps in UI in wrong direction). Honestly, for most of what I do, 7 is still...

Reverse order printing from OS X

So far I've been using Quite Imposing for reverse pages or tools inside the workflow and was always wondering why the pitstop does not have it. Colorblind's effort is appreciated but I prefer gig0's method much more, no need for indesign. I tested it and it works as advertise, thanks for sharing...

    Fuji LHP-J plate blinding problem

Another bit of info I have that might help ring a bell is that plate opens up fine when they start the job, but if they go for lunch break and come back, plate will not open any more and it shows a lot on Magenta so they need new plate. This is one of the new things that started happening...

    Fuji LHP-J plate blinding problem

Something is changed for sure as we have noticed in last month or so similar thing. We have the same problem on three different presses, with different inks (one press is UV inks), with different fountain solution and the only thing that is in common would be plates so that is where we are...

    Pressmen as Platemakers?

Jon, I hope you don't mind, but I find this topic interesting so wanted more feedback. I posted separate Poll here: http://printplanet.com/forums/prepress-workflow-discussion/26287-who-should-run-ctp-prepress-pressroom

Who should run CTP, Prepress or Pressroom?

There was separate thread with interesting tidbits about Pressroom running CTP plates vs Prepress here : http://printplanet.com/forums/prepress-workflow-discussion/26278-pressmen-platemakers. What is your opinion?

    Am I paranoid or?

It's a feature designed to help users. It was a "lab" feature for awhile and you could use it or not, maybe they finally included it to be part of the regular mail for everyone. I think it might be helpful for people who miss attachments, which happens very often, at least in my neck of woods...

What annoys you about press operators

I think you should come working for us as such attitude coming from Pressman is unheard of :) Seriously, what you are doing now is great first step, next one is to get technical lead or supervisor befriended and go out for a coffee or lunch and chat. It might take a while but you might turn out...

    Any problems with cockpit 2010????

While there are bunch of small things broken and some functionality lost, that I am hoping to get back with future updates, I have not seen anything earth shattering like what you describe (we upgraded to 2010 couple of months ago). I am not sure what is your setup but you have to leave...

    Old Job Back Up

That should be simple enough just using Smart Folders in Snow Leopard. Hit "Apple key + F" to search folder, Set "Kind" to folder and "Created date" to before 2009 or whatever date you want and once it's done searching, hit "Apple key + A", to select all folders in window and than "Apple key +...

    PDF Overprint

I would be afraid to refry PDF for the sake of reducing size. You can use acrobat.com or any other online service to upload PDF as is, rather than refrying it as you might affect PDF in process so it does not represent actual printed PDF 100 %
