    InDesign to Illustrator

My apology, I should be more diligent in reading long threads, I missed this question. When they say Illustrator files, I thought they meant eps files as that is usually lingo people use. I doubt most of the people send AI files. In case of eps, it is not locked in to Illustrator as most other...

    InDesign to Illustrator

They might not suck necessarily, perhaps they just want to avoid Adobe lock in.

    Heard of Affinity Designer?

I think it has lot's of catching up to do to beat Adobe, however as a starter software it does look promising and developers are active and listening to community. I did not have problem buying it and I can see potential for sure.

    PDF and Open Type Fonts

I am not Leonardo or Leonard, but I do know that laser printer is probably using some kind of PS driver to describe/print pages. That means your PDF is being converted to PS or PCL language to be printed on that laser. During this conversion all kinds of funky things can happen, depending on the...

    PDF and Open Type Fonts

Open Type are cross platform and as far as I am aware they are fully supported in PDF. Both Apogee and Prinect 2013 are modern PDF workflows that should not have any issues with Open Type fonts.

Single page PDF vs Multi page PDF

Thanks to all of you for replies. My conclusion is that I have not seen definite reason for using single page PDF's over multi-page pdf, other than user preference, potential easier assignment of pages and potential faster refining if using multiple JTP's (depending if you have licensed many...

Single page PDF vs Multi page PDF

I understand ease of replacing page (debatable if you ask me), but what would be the other advantages of single page workflow? Rampage used to work with eps files. Since eps files were single page format, not multi page format like PDF, it was mandatory to use single page workflow. What would be...

Single page PDF vs Multi page PDF

Thanks for replies, so it was not mandatory or recommended by Kodak to split PDF's into individual files?

Single page PDF vs Multi page PDF

I am curios is everyone who is using Prinergy also using single page PDF's, like Rampage workflow or there are multi page PDF users too? What is recommended by Kodak? I can see advantage of single page workflow when it comes time to replace pages, but other than that, I can not see any other...

    Heidelberg Prinect vs. Fuji XMF

Another Heidelberg Printready user for 5+ years, couldn't be happier. Support is number one, hands down. When we looked at purchasing PDF workflow back in the day, XMF did not exist so I can not give you my 2 cents, but we evaluated other workflows and came out very impressed with Heidelberg...

SCREEN 4300 laser Diodes burning out quiclky using Kodak plates?

Sorry, no experience with Screen devices but I heard they are good, perhaps I've heard wrong. We still use 14 years old Creo Trendsetter but have Preventive Maintenace every 6 months. As part of PM tech cleans lens, lubricates parts and inspects the machine. Is the environment you have device...

    CC extremely frustrating!

I absolutely agree that Adobe has to make money somehow. I personally have nothing against cloud, however the bigger issue to me that seems to be in a blind spot for many people is pricing. If we paid the same amount of money as before for upgrade price of CS Standard, no argument there, however...

    Acrobat 11 - Mac

Click on Tools on the right and right sidebar will open. Scroll a bit down and there will be "Content Editing" and below "Format". Everything has moved under this right side bar in Acrobat 11, at least on Mac, not sure about Windows.

How QuarkXPress became a mere afterthought in publishing

Good article on Ars Technica about Quark demise. Love the alien zapping the text box (who remembers alien?) and love the conclusion with warning to Adobe. How QuarkXPress became a mere afterthought in publishing | Ars Technica

Need help with trapping - newbie here :D

You would need to knock it out, otherwise if it's set to overprint, it will let other colours underneath. It's hard to explain without showing you in real world, but imagine there has to be white, than black only stroke, than rest of the colours with black.

Need help with trapping - newbie here :D

Usually printers like to trap their own files, especially in packaging. I would suggest you look at better service elsewhere as these days it is/should be all about service you receive from your print provider. That being said, this is trapping they are asking you to do. If your white text is...

    Installing Cockpit Client

I would say it is equally easy on both Mac and Windows, depending on your level of technical expertise on each system. Editing of host files is only required if your network setup is with static IP. You can use DHCP or AD on both Mac and Windows as far as I am aware.

    Installing Cockpit Client

Sorry, nothing in written but it's fairly easy. If you ever installed any app, you will be able to install client. It comes as exe file for windows or DMG for Mac. You lunch it and follow installer instructions. Is there something you are stuck on?
