    Speedmaster PH

i find ph also depends on the plate being used. the plates we use, work best at much lower 4.2-4.5 ph

    Varnish on Toner

odly enough, we also used a manRoland to coat :p we've done it over solids before and never had an issue like this. i find we don't get as much gloss from it as coating regular offset inks, but never had an issue with milky looking results. may need to adjust the viscosity of the coating. i...

    Varnish on Toner

we have a 7000 as well. when varnishing comes up, we either flood aq or we don't do it at all. i don't think toner was ever intended to have varnish on it. however gloss and matte aq works well if you have a press that has a coater.

    Tales of breakage!

ive got a tale of my own here. we had just started up a third shift on our 5 colour. the new guy came up from running a qm-46 in house. he ran that thing very well and knew it like the back of his own hand, but was having issues learning our Roland. anyway, to make a long story short, during...

    ideal durometer for metering roller?

so, if i had to guess, my rollers should have 0% crown since my metering roller is pre-skewed and already promotes water to the ends right? i haven't talked to the roller rep yet and my labels don't say anything about crown. they come from rotadyne)

    ideal durometer for metering roller?

for years we've used 25 shore "a" and let them get as high as 32-35 before changing them out, however i came across the july/aug '99 issue of gatf world at work lastnight, that has an article about alcohol free printing where they insist 18-20 shore "a" is what it should start at for better...

    Man Roland 306

i run a 305. it's a great press, but the feed can be a little tricky sometimes. not as bulletproof as say a speedmaster of equal size. i like running mine. it's very easy to operate and simple to learn.

    Matte aq coating

i found i had to stir it up pretty well before using it. also make sure the applicator hose isnt touching the bottom of the barrel. i find that 25-35 seconds in the #4 zahn and drier at about the same temp as gloss aq. works best for me. the stuff scuffs pretty easily, especially noticeable on...

rules/regulations/legalities reguarding IPA useage in canada (ontario)??

yeah that pretty much sums it up whether or not it's frowned upon in Ontario or just flat out illegal to use in printing? obviously, whmis guidlines and the msds of the ipa should tell me, but i am looking for basically what you said.
