How to tell if a CMYK build printed as requested

I will let the color management experts correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is: Cyan 30 - Yellow 100, GRACoL profile translates to L:77 a:-20 b:72 absolute colorimetric (according to Adobe CMS engine) so if your print shop already prints to Gracol specifications, then using a loupe on a...

Batch converting 120 files....(cropping bounding box & filetype change)

This is a new version of the AppleScript posted before, it can now deal with multiple pages PDF. Hope it works for you as well: --Script tested with Photoshop CS5.1 - Acrobat Pro 10.1.2 on Mac OS 10.6.8 --defines source PDF folder location set my_source to (choose folder with prompt "Choose...

Batch converting 120 files....(cropping bounding box & filetype change)

Stephen, thanks for the good words. While Photoshop can rasterize any PDF page, I think you need to use another application to get the page amount info first. I will get back to you on this.

Batch converting 120 files....(cropping bounding box & filetype change)

Sorry it doesn't work. As I mentioned, it works fine here but may not work on a different configuration. Very hard for me to troubleshoot from here. Before running the script, in AppleScript Editor go to Window/Event Log History. It will log what the script does and doesn't. Just copy what you...

Batch converting 120 files....(cropping bounding box & filetype change)

Yes, paste that in AppleScript editor, then click "Compile" then "Run". Just follow script instructions, it will ask for a source folder (where your PDFs are), select that folder, click "choose" button. Same when it will ask for destination folder (where you need your JPEGs to be saved). Haven't...

Batch converting 120 files....(cropping bounding box & filetype change)

If you really want to use Photoshop to do your task then on a mac you can use the following script to batch-open (rasterize/flatten) single pages PDF files in Photoshop and resave them as JPEG. Make sure all your source PDFs are in the same folder location. Just paste the following code in...

Why do the Files sizes always increase

Oh boy, opening the PDF in Illustrator (given that it wasn't created by Illustrator) could bring the wrath of some Adobe experts down on you :-) since Illustrator is not a PDF editor. For the size increase matter, it all depends on the PDF export setting used to create the new PDF from...

Why do the Files sizes always increase

OK, original supplied file is a PDF. Client asks you to do changes to that PDF. How do you do it (what software do you use to edit the PDF)? What format is your new x10 size file? A PDF?

    Indesign error when exporting PDF

I agree with Shawn about background PDF exporting being flaky. On a mac, you can use the following script to export a multipage InDesign document as single pages PDF, you can export all pages at once or choose which pages you need (such as page 3, page 13 and so on). It should be pretty helpful...

    Indesign error when exporting PDF

Well that's not flattening, that's rasterizing which means taking all your PDF content (images, vectors, fonts) and changing the whole thing into one pre-defined resolution single image. You should do that as your very last resort IMO. Flattening means getting rid of all native transparency...

Fonts no displaying properly-Mac to Mac

Have you tried disabling your Font management software and let InDesign manage the fonts? As long as the fonts are in a folder named "Document fonts" at the same level of the ID doc (and given that whoever supplied you the document made a good package) it should work. Also, the PDF you're using...

    Indesign error when exporting PDF

The joys of troubleshooting... I suggest you export directly as PDF from InDesign (File/Export then choose your PDF preset) by page batch such as 1 PDF for pages 1 to 10 then another PDF for 11 to 20 and so on. If you get an error on one or more multipage PDF, you can then narrow your search to...

    Creo Vs Fiery RIP

We tested both Fiery and Creo rips about 18 months ago when it was time to upgrade our (then 2008 Fiery front-end) Xerox printers. We noticed that some complex InDesign and PDFX1a files would sometimes not render properly through Fiery, whatever we would try. Testing these very same files on the...
