Also if the paper is too heavy it wont fold on some finishers.

I'm in the same boat. Got a quote from a tech for $170 for pads, $230 for pump and cap assbly (if needed) plus labor. Does not look like a do it your self job.

I like Quark and only had trouble with Quark 7, and maybe 5?, but we use what our customers send and ID is certainly the king of the hill today. They should have tried to get Freehand when it was up for grabs and made their own suite like Adobe. Their customer service was crap in the past, but...

Dump the preferences for Quark. Library -preferences -Quark -Quark 8

We have Brisque (yes still) and have looked at Kodak Prinergy, Agfa and Heidelberg pdf workflows. How Does Fuji's offering compare? Any old Brisque users who are using it, what do you think? Thanks

Try restarting the Epson. I used to get a similar problem on a small epson and that sometimes fixed it.
