    QM 46/2 image ghosting

I found the ocillator to form on the roller (was red now black) near the blanket cleaner was not making a stripe. I fixed this and my ghosting went away. Dont know the roller number but it is the lowest in unit 1. The company I work for is in love with a local roller company that does rollers...

backside printing,, should we concern ourselves with load temp..

I see no reason to do it. We check load temps mainly when backing up with aqueous. We run out piles real hot on the first side of an uncoated sheet with heavy coverage then turn them down when backing up.

    QM 46/2 image ghosting

I am stiff fighting this. I installed a new water form on this press about 3 months ago which is a Heidelberg roller. We had a local company totally botch re core of the forms so I ordered new form rollers from Syntac about 3 months ago and have never used these rollers and am now wondering if...

    Indigo 5500 ink scratching

I have no malice towards you Luke. We have used stocks that have something like a saphire coating that has helped indigo ink stick to non approved stock. We have tried aqueous but never varnish. These inks are very high in hydro carbons and because of it figured varnish would have negative...

    Indigo 5500 ink scratching

Interesting how a simple question about scratching totally bashed the digital print industry. Negitive comments from anyone on this thread has no clue as to the importance of digital printing. I run probably 20 jobs a day on the Indigo and maybe have problems with 3 or 4 a month. Most of...

    QM 46/2 image ghosting

I have noticed a ghosting problem on the main unit of my quick master. I am guessing it is a latent image from one of my rollers but am unable to find anything wrong with my stripes. Form rollers are only about 6 months old and the transfers and ductor are about 2 years old. The symptom on my...

    Indigo 5500 ink scratching

GPA uses a new formula of coating the replaced the old sahpire coating. So if a stock is going to work GPA should be the best solution. We are set up on consignment with GPA and because of the amount of stock we purchase from them we get a pretty good discount. I guess I dont understand why...

    Indigo 5500 ink scratching

I have been working with Indigos as a production manager for 10 years. I am familiar with the Indigo 2000,3050 and now the 5500. Our main operator left a week ago and I am currently the new operator of this machine. Indigo says that a color build of over 260 percent is bad and it will scratch...

    Duplo DC10 Picking Up Doubles

Is your duplo double sheet detector manual or optical? 20 lb is a tough one to set up for double sheets. The sheet is so thin it is hard for a Duplo to distinguish between a single and a double.

Paper wrapping around blanket on AB Dick 9810?

Try increasing your buckle setting to the highest number. (allen wrench under the fly wheel). If you are printing solids you will have to clean your blanket and let it dry then feed into the job. 40 lb offset is a problem no matter which press you print it on. Reduce your ink tack as much as...

HP Indigo - is it worth the price

I know our click rates are higher. Our main printing is done offset and the indigo is mainly for short run. We have an agreement with Indigo where if we hit 400,000 clicks per month our last 100,000 clicks are free. Indigo clicks are based on one color and we have a special agreement with...

HP Indigo - is it worth the price

Finishing is also a big plus for the indigo. Because they use a paste type ink instead of toner bindery people can put nice scores and folds without cracking. Static electricity is also much lower on the indigo. We had a 6060 which at the time had the same engine as the Igen and we were...

    QM 46 total impressions

I dont know sf45. Will look into it when I get a chance. I would go with the mechanical counter. You have 25.5 million impressions. Mine is close to 15 years old and has just over 41 million

    Ghosting in screen....

How old are the crestline rollers? Typically you are looking at a year before replacing them. Verify all your ink forms and pressures to the oscillators are good. Cyan is usually one of the first units to show roller problems. I would try to first use a calcium rinse like roller relief or...

Customers complaining of chemical smell on printed pieces.

It takes a long time to make chemistry work in a print shop. Finding a solution to make ink and chemistry print on coated and uncoated stocks. Then finding an ink that the pigments are correct that you can mix and actually match to a PMS book. The biggest challenge we have is when these...

    very Rough surface after printing

You are correct. The spray powder is sticking to the ink creating a sandpaper feel. You can try to depowder it but it probably wont work. Pretty hard to get away with a solid on anything but paper using conventional printing.

Customers complaining of chemical smell on printed pieces.

Heavy coverage of ink on uncoated stock equals nasty linseed oil smell. I had to deliver a job to a customer first thing monday morning and left the job in my car over the weekend on a hot summer weekend and the stink in my car was there for almost a month. Coated stock will stink but not as...

    AB Dick 9800 series/Ryobi 3200/Itek 975 question

I agree the 975 is a much better machine then the Ab Dick. My meaning of glorified is that it is still a duplicator and does similar type work as an AB Dick. The Machine is built much better and the feeder allows you to do more things then you can do with an AB Dick. That said is the learning...

    AB Dick 9800 series/Ryobi 3200/Itek 975 question

Ryobi is backwards to Abdick. If you push something on an ab dick you have to pull it on a ryobi. As previously stated get a 3302 and learn it. A 975 is a glorified ab dick and a T head is a punishment to a press operator. A year after you own a 3302 you will wonder why you ever dealt with a...

    Job planning or Proof first

So from all the rhetoric the given is that a proof should be sent first then do the job planning. Then wait till the job is due then print it.
