Patchy print - seems like a stock problem?

Uncoated side of boards are always problematic. I was told they were to alkaline and cause the ink driers to fail. We use carolina and it prints fine. Lower quality boards like Kolima we have to use more driers in the ink and have noticed splotchy ink lays. You get what you pay for on board...

    Ryobi 3302 with crestline

Are you using metal or Poly plates. To help the ink piling you are seeing use and alcohol substitute made by Anchor call ARS-X. You use about 1 to 2 oz per gallon. In your case you are not using this as an alcohol sub but as a piling agent. The sub will break the ink down and make it go back...

    Ryobi 3302 Help Needed!

Been awhile but it seems to me on the very first 3302 you may have had to line the cylinder with something in order to turn it however if it has the button you push down below the knob you turn you should be able to do the turn anywhere on the cylinder. You are saying you cant make either one...

    SM52 ink train

Really have not been able to look into it. Our press operator was gone for 2 weeks and I was covering for him. I spoke to him about it and he feels just like everyone here is saying that it is a pain but he does drop his water a lot when the press kicks off then slowly brings it back up. We...

    changing register potentiometers

If it is the screen I think it is I believe you need a technician password to get into it. Only Heidelburg can give that password and it is time sensitive. Which means if you use it now it wont work an hour from now

    SM52 ink train

I will look into this. When feeder causes a restart say double sheet, late sheet what ever. Once you restart the feeding process the water goes real high. Cyan density will drop to 50 then after 200 sheets the water and ink balance out to around 125 where I normally run it. High coverage...

    SM52 ink train

We have a 2004 SM 52. Some of our jobs have a very low amount of ink to print and I find it difficult to maintain ink densities. We have multiple options 1 Short ink train 2 full ink train 3 integrated water 4 segregated water Will using the short ink train and having the water segregated...

    Heidelberg GTO 52 Motor

Depends on the motor. We sent one of our Quick master motors over to a local motor shop and got it back in 4 hours. All it needed was a capacitor. If you are here in the US hardest part is going to find the metric match up you need. Look on the data plate and find out the manufacture and...

    QM46 plate loading problem

Problem solved. It was the spring. I had ordered a spare a couple months ago and looked at it and the one on the press and noticed the gap on the old one was much larger then the one sent to me. I put it in and problem solved. The give away to me should have been the way the upper guard was...

    QM46 plate loading problem

Glad to hear Joe is still working at Heidelberg. Those issues are a bit tough to deal with if you dont know the QM electrical and air schematics. I tested the rollers for insert and plate removal and they do work. I am going to remove the rollers and clean them and hope that dirty bearings...

    QM46 plate loading problem

I have a QM46/2. On printing unit 1( above the delivery) the tail of the plate will not clamp down all the time. I have adjusted the loading spring to 10 mil. It appears there is something else out of alignment. any help would be appreciated. I have a 40 plate change job to run tomorrow and...

    Rollers, rollers, rollers!

Bottcher has great rollers. We use a local company called the Roller Company and they re core our old rollers. To do this you need an extra set of cores.

    electrostatic plates?

AB Dick / Itek quit making electrostatic plate makers years ago. A typical run was around 1000 on 11 x 17 and maybe 2000 on 8.5 x 11. They would start to crack on the tail and work their way in. This was a gold mine before copiers showed up. I grew up on these plates. As mentioned before...

    AzuraTS plates coming out "dirty"

We have noticed this as well. When we were running Azura we never had a problem but the new Azura TS seems to make our plates dirty. I cleaned each of the rollers by hand last wednesday and noticed a lot of staining on the rollers. Agfa recommended trying to use a green scrub pad with no...

    Is Domtar sleeping with Neenah?

We just got in 10000 cougar smooth #10 white regular windows and noticed they had Neenah labels on the cartons and boxes. Is Domtar taking over the world?

    GTO 52- DDS Dampening.

The DDS has to be set correctly. There should have been a sheet that tells how to set it. It has been over 5 years since I used one I cant remember but the sheet was easy to follow. Seems to me there is a bridge roller that you must engage to ink the press up and then to clean it up. If...

is heidy qm 46-2 really worth the money?

3302 cant compare to the solid a QM46 does. Also the quick master does not have the nasty infeed roller marking the ryobis have. I ran AB Dicks for years and I would never go back from the quick master. The person who invented the Thead was a person who hated press operators and that is why...

Magenta blinding on silvermaster - stumped

We used to have the same problem. Our ink company put a varnish in to help fight the water. In a pinch you could use Rubine red instead. It is a bit stronger then Magenta but may be a stiffer ink.
