    The Lean Process

Maybe the problem is that most of us haven't seen a proper lean implementation. What many of us see are half-arsed ones. We get the part where they come in and eliminate jobs, but we don't get the part where the machines are properly maintained and the workflow is improved. We don't get the part...

Unless you have another identity on the site, then as far as I can tell you joined yesterday and then lambasted the membership in your first and only post. Were you expecting the people here to sell equipment for you? If you ask for opinions in an open forum, you are going to get varying...

    In house classes...

Most equipment sellers offer training and I imagine that many software companies do as well, but there could be a market for your concept.

    Valued Employees

I dunno, at least from my experience, when companies talk about how their employees are their most valuable asset, they are talking about their management people and not the folks that would be running the presses, prepress or bindery anyway.

    In house classes...

It's difficult to get pressmen working in the same shop to share information so to see information shared between competing companies doesn't seem too likely. In a single shop, it comes down to job security and jealousies. Between shops, you are talking about market share and profits.

    Help gatering makeready data, please

Impossible to answer Impossible to answer If you get answers to this, they are going to vary wildly depending on the type of work a shop does, the level of automation on the press, condition of the press, the standardization of the work you print, whether you use consistent color rotations...

    Patching Blankets

Roland 800 Roland 800 Ours was a 1979 model and all the ink keys, sweeps and back cylinder adjustments had to be made manually at the unit. It wasn't much of a step up from the 77" Meihle presses we had as far as operator conveniences go.

    Patching Blankets

I used to work on a Roland 800 years ago. It was the press that I loved to hate and still refer to it as the monkeybar press. I have to admit that clambering up and down on that machine kept me in fairly good shape.

Finding Distortion factor for coating blankets

My old shop used cyrel polymer coating blankets and they were great as long as some muscle-bound operator didn't over-tighten them. My new shop cuts 4-ply blankets on a special machine and they never fit right. And the misregistration from bearer to bearer is worse than from gripper to tail.

    vacation time ?

I tried to convince my former employer that the day after the Super Bowl should be a paid holiday. Surely we could have traded some other holiday for it. Absenteeism after the Super Blow was 30% or more on the midnight shift, a good 15% on the day shift.

    Patching Blankets

I was just wondering what comments I might get from the group on learning that some operators are using masking tape to patch coating blankets? I checked this stuff with a micrometer and it was nearly .006" thick and my past practice was to never use anything more than .003" and preferably .002"...

    Trading Card Game?

First things first. Do you have your game trademarked or copyrighted to protect your rights as the creator of these cards? Second, how many cards are you wanting to make? Are you wanting to do this on an offset printing press, a digital press or do you want to do them on a home/business inkjet...
