    Chemical Watermark - Any experience?

If you are going to be doing this consistently and in large numbers you may want to look into the Aegis system from thermotype. It uses an adaptor that fits onto an AB Dick 360 chute. It's rather expensive, around $15k, but if you do a lot it might be better to keep it in house. THERM-O-TYPE...

Scratch off ink (lottery tickets kind) for digital prints

You could always run the base print digitally with the VDP and them spot coat the scratch off with a conventional press.

    Thermographic or similar ink?

Thermocromatic ink can be quite eye catching when used right. Your supplier should be able to produce different colors and different temperature thermocromatic ink, and using several temperatures you could produce a thermometer effect. One thing to consider is momentary exposure to very high...

Why is the Konica $1/2 the xerox

My biggest suggestion when looking for any machine, be it digital, offset, or a paper cutter is what are your service options? Locally Xerox has about 20 service techs, while Canon only has 4. Toshiba has about 20 as well. KM and Ricoh have none. If a Xerox or Toshiba machine went down I could...

Looking for Optimal C9650 settings for laser plate printing

On a "new" machine it's not uncommon to have remanufactured drums come with it, but that's not entirely the issue. Set the paper type to Transparency and the size to the size of your plate, and make sure when your are doing the print settings, it's at the highest quality, but b&w only, no...

Cutting Parent size stock for press

I will quite often trim even cut stock before it goes to press, as more often than not cut stock will have ragged edges, or not be entirely the right size. Also, it helps it feed better after cutting and re-jogging, and makes work and turn come out better.

Printer recommendation - 500k B&W impressions per month

Depending on the amount of variable data you need to lay down, and it positioning, fonts, etc... you can use anything from Microsoft Word to Adobe InDesign. InDesign, believe it or not, is very capable of producing variable data work, and I use it routinely. I have also used plain old Word for...

Polyester plates printed on Laser printers

You need to adjust the Kompac mounts so you get a good strip on the plate, since the plates are thinner than traditional metal plates, and the Kompac was most likely installed for metal. I ran a stripe about a quarter inch wide or so. Pacific Products has the alcohol-sub I use, its called...

    paper bounce on 7655 help

The should. While the 7655 is a good machine, it's not really a production class one, some of the software and hardware required for good registration isn't there.

Looking for Optimal C9650 settings for laser plate printing

You want to set it to transparencies, and that is the hottest fuser setting. I have that same machine, just the Xerox version, and it works great on Hurst SmartIO plates.

Polyester plates printed on Laser printers

I run Accell FC1000 fountain solution, I can't really tell you how much, I go by the color, but its on the strong side. I think it recommends 4-8 ounces per gallon or something, and I run the higher number. As for the Alcohol Sub, I will have to look for the brand. I only use the Alcohol Sub if...

Polyester plates printed on Laser printers

Your assumption is correct. Depending on the device used to output the plate, a typical line screen is 60 lpi from a 600x600 dpi printer, and about 90 from a 1200x1200 dpi printer. Depending on the press, you can do halftone work for spot colors, but process work is not recommended as the plates...

Polyester plates printed on Laser printers

From the specs I can find online you BizHub is only 600dpi, so it can't do 85 lpi. It can only do a max of 60 lpi. If you need more information on dpi vs lpi I have an article on this on my website at Graficworx - Honolulu, Hawaii

What version are the Macs running? What filesystem are the external drives on the Old Server?

W2k external Drive with Mac Fonts now on W2k8 fonts are corrupt

I agee with Shaw. W2k Server had the correct extensions to deal with Mac metadata file (the .filename files). Microsoft took those extensions out, so the metadata that tells the Mac what kind of file it is won't be there, and the Mac sees it as corrupt, even though it's really not. For a bit of...

    xerox 4112 spooling speed

From what you have said, I'm going to say it's a Windows print driver issue. PowerPoint uses VML for it's images, which can cause issues. Try using the postscript driver. I agree that your issue with over 90% makes no sense. Try downloading the latest postscript drivers from xerox.

Mac OS 10.5.8 Freezes on Log Out

Couple of things can cause this, either an application is trying to save or exit and fails/freezes, or there is some system call that isn't being "answered". I would try resetting the PRAM, NVRAM, and doing a disk repair from another computer while the subject machine is connected in target disk...

    magnetic ink

Welcome to the forum. Magnetic (MICR) ink should not affect you press at all. It runs just like any regular ink. Depending on the brand you use, they may recommend a certain fountain solution.

    indigo security printing

A pantograph works by having a background image with a "hidden" word inside it. This is accomplished by the background and word being two different line screens, for example one being 150 lpi and one being 133 lpi. A copier will see the higher line screen as denser, and will output it as a solid...

    Champion 305CDC guide travel

I figured out it's either the encoder cable or the encoder, or both. If you bring the table all the way to the front, and then run it backward it counts up 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 0. Then it begins over again. Also, if you put it at a location, the value on the display slowly creeps up, but the...
