    The Estimate

I've always dated my files. Now about estimates being accurate, it would be helpful if the requested actual made specific requests. Instead, you get "glossy paper". 80lb? 100lb?

    If getting back into offset...

...what would you do? Or, how would you go about it? What kind of press would you buy? DI? Used Heidelberg? New Ryobi? I'm lightly entertaining the idea as I used to run an offset press but have been all digital for the past twelve years. I got the space and the three phase power. Currently...

    On this US Thanksgiving...

Nice list Gordo. I would so eat at any one of those just because of the name. In fact, this past June, I was in Atlanta and ate at a Thai restaurant called Pho King.

    Care to Share???

Wow. I come in at $1,701. I might need to look at my margins. I am using a new estimating program so I priced it in my old system and got $1,025 just for the cards! So I didn't bother looking at the price for the envelopes. I'm all digital (Xerox C75) and located in Maryland about two hours from...

    Riso ComColor 7330 demo

I bought my ComColor from Duplicator Source. Super nice and very friendly. Ink prices are great and work very well.

    Riso ComColor 7330 demo

I felt the same way when I got mine. What I found is that you have to use the envelope setting. I don't know how different yours is from mine but the envelope setting, unfortunately, doesn't have as good of an image quality as all the other settings. You end up with a magenta halo around...

    Riso ComColor 7330 demo

I just bought a used 7050 and love it as much as I hate it. I bought it to do carbonless and envelopes. It's finicky with the type of carbonless and brand of envelope you use. Flat sheet work, like black and white forms with a little bit of color, it's awesome. Fast, as you noticed, and adding a...

Legal child marriage in the US

How 'bout we talk about refusing to print the wedding invitations for a child marriage?

    New Riso GD 9630

Well, not really that simple. It depends upon the type of work you do. I have been getting paid to do forms, raffle tickets, note pads, and envelopes. Since my last post, I have figured out the blue problem (pms 287). In fact, I got a customers forms business that they were sending somewhere...

    I have a dilemma.

I do oddball jobs like that all the time.

    imagePRESS 850C or Versant 180?

Oooohh. That would be a deal breaker for me as well. I print a lot of adhesive vinyl and polyester.

    imagePRESS 850C or Versant 180?

I'm looking at the same comparison as well- Versant 180 vs Canon 750/850. As mentioned, the Canon is considerably less money in terms of clicks and lease payments. What I found interesting was the results of a survey I participated in through the National Printing Research Council. The Canon...

    Running a DI Press

Before I moved my shop, I considered a DI press. I was considering getting a new Xerox or DI. But I didn't have enough space or 3 phase power. Now that I am in my new location, I have the space and the 3 phase but I decided not to get a DI (or a new Xerox). It does seem like runs are getting...

    New Riso GD 9630

I just bought a 7150 and it is fast but the blues suck. Mainly, reflex/286. It may have something to do with the external RIP I did not order with it. It's on my list to buy as I hope that will do the trick. If you are going to print envelopes, make sure you get a quality envelope, meaning, flat...

    Riso 9150

I don't think feeding is the problem, it's when the envelope gets in the machine, it trips a sensor because it's not flat or it rubs against a print head cleaner rod and leaves a smudge. But as long as the envelopes are flat, it'll be ok. As Bill Kahny said, you'll need to de-curl if necessary...

    Riso 9150

I just bought a Riso 7050. Don't know what they improved between the two models but I bought my with the hopes of running envelopes. It does ok as long as you got the settings right and the envelopes you use are flat. Meaning, when you set a stack on the table, there is no curl or waviness or...

    a grave error

Keith, I wouldn't let this one Bridezilla ruin it for you. Over the years, I've been very cautious when someone asks if we do wedding invitation out of fear of the Bridezilla. I never advertise that we do, only for friends, family, and current customers. But I still try to prequalify them to be...

    Command Workstation 6

I've been using it for a few days now and really like how it looks. No problems yet. Then again, the only real problem I had with version 5 was it slowing down after a few weeks so we'll see if version 6 stays nice and snappy over time.

FusionPro and USPS Small Business Tool... Mailings

I've used FusionPro for years. Just as MailGuru pointed out, FusionPro needs the raw data (that string of letters) and you need the barcode font installed on your system. After you insert the field, you need to change the font. But this is all assuming that the USPS SBT is giving you a CSV file...
