I think it's some of that but I think it depends on the model of machine too.

Have you checked the pricing on the difference between the PBM350e and the SR5120 with the square back trimmer? The PBM350e would be more versatile as chriscozi was describing but I don't know about the cost differences.

Does it work on another computer with command workstation installed? (I am assuming you are running command workstation on the Fiery when you have the errors.)

Weird I would have expected the issue to be on both images.

Do you a picture of the whole sheet? Is it two sided? Is the area with the defect on the trailing edge?

Did you try and go in tray paper settings and set the size for the interposer?

On the 7110/7210 anyway you can do 27.5 from the vacuum feed banner tray and 49.2 from the bypass tray. What are you printing on 47"? I really only see people doing the 27.5.

Is your product full color, single color? How many? If it's only a few I have seen people print on transfer paper then transfer the image to wood.

Does it need to be color? How about laser engraving. Would latex ink be considered biodegradable? I haven't seen a flatbed that isn't UV but roll fed machines are. How many pieces are you doing? If it's not a lot you could do a transfer. Otherwise like Alois said silkscreen.

If you want to see if it's cheaper to not have a contact I would get the pm schedule and price how much it would be to just do the pm's and the toner for however many pages you would print in a year.

On the xerox one does the drum you are replacing include the cleaning and charge sections as well? On the Ricoh stuff the cleaning and charge are separate from the drum and the drum has a much longer life than the cleaning and charge parts.

Does it have a Fiery? You can do it in the driver with the Fiery. Otherwise you can do it on the adjustments for operators tab.
