I'm still on ES 14 running Mac OS 10.10.5. It's such a giant PITA to constantly upgrade when in reality there is no true production benefit. I end up only doing it when it is absolutely necessary.

Look at the Harlequin options. We purchased our Harlequin based workflow through Xitron. I've used them for years and like them well enough. They call theirs Navigator.

You should do a nozzle check before any set of color critical proofs IMO. If the nozzle check shows any gaps, run a cleaning cycle specifically for that pair if possible.

Had that issue too. We have a Xitron Screen PT-R Interface. They suggested replacing the cable from the interface to the platesetter and it resolved the problem.

make the grayscale a multi channel...add three blank channels (white) with the image being the last channel on the list...then convert to CMYK...you now have a CMYK file with your original grayscale in the black channel only. Copy and paste away!

Try placing it in Illustrator and either embedding it or saving it as an Illustrator PDF and then opening it in Acrobat.

It seems that the answer in in the Paper Feed Adjustment. Just takes a lot of experimentation. Each clear substrate is quite different. Must be a matter of tension, tackiness, etc.
