You can't manipulate that fixed variable (unless something changed in the last two years). If you have Switch you would be better off using the variable sets in PitStop and taking the values from Switch.

Typically an Action List in PitStop is for a specific task. A preflight profile would be a better choice for file checking, you can modify an existing one if you don't want all the checks. The GWG ones provide a good reference if you have doubts, the Digital Print ones would be worth checking out.

Layers (or Optional Content Groups) are becoming more and more important. I really don't understand why some rips have issues with them as they've been around since PDF 1.5. Guess it depends how old the rip is.

You just needed to flatten it in Acrobat, that would have done it.

Layers in Illustrator and Layers (Optional Content Groups) in PDF are not the same thing, you need to use the right tool for the job. As stated many times before, Illustrator is not a PDF Editor.

Flattening should work, as there won't be any layers afterwards.

I always thought that the 'not printing' option in Acrobat was related to printing direct from Acrobat, not related to the layer behavior when ripped. Maybe Dov can confirm/deny?
