I've seen this on all different papers, I think its more screen ruling or dot size related in the fine line text. I've 'fixed" it in the past by outlining the text. I just hope the fix isn't a text "enhancement" they may do in the background without clearly telling us.

Was the fix just to change the setting? an update? new wires?

To me it looks like the newer machine is trying to print to fine a screen in to light a color. Change the halftone screen off the "200 dpi and fine text" setting under your image tab to say 175 without the fine text and you will see the solid darker text from the older machine.

I had an oce model (dont know number anymore) that scuffed easily - hated it. was a nice match to our offset in grey tone and shine.

Why do you want to? I almost always scan to file first, to check page count and quality. For large page quantities you can re-scan and replace pages before you print the whole job. Scan at a low quality and replace a few high quality pages to keep file size down. or what they said

simple answer yes ... but screens have to match equipment your using if you can't control the finer dot it's a waste. If the original scan/photo doesn't include enough detail you will lose it. I still go back to 600 dpi (from 1200) on the ricoh 7210 on lots of work

Almost the whole mail piece falls into the OCR area on some pieces, position the reply above and left of the delivery in a smaller font size, keep the delivery in an easy to read non script font and fully in the OCR. For invitations where they want a script only do it to the name and company...

Another thought, was the delivery closer the 1/2 inch from bottom or right edge, that ends the OCR read area? In other words is the delivery CSZ line outside the OCR area?

It's not suppose to happen NO. But .... I always recommend putting the delivery as large as you can and always larger than the return address.

was the return address in a cleaner larger font even though it has higher than the delivery address? and with the usps anything is possible.

Good luck even getting them to refund the postage. There is no accountability with the USPS. post a pic of 1 of the returns maybe I could shed some light on it.
