In AE there is a compare PDF's ticket that will create a PDF showing only the differences as well as an xml file with the differences. It pretty much the same as the viewer compare but in a more automated fashion. The compare PDF's task is part of the "Processor" module.

this can be avoided by either naming conventions or different folders. Sounds like you are using push thru folders? (hot folders in webcenter). When I use those, I make sure that AE uploads to a different folder then the push thru folder.

Do you want the manual sync? You can set it to automatically sync when something happens in the project? As far as seeing the button, I believe that is only visible for the project managers and of course admins. We have ours setup to sync on document uploads.

No it does not alert the working at the rip. The way I set it up is as a public parameter. This means when you submit a file via shuttle. The first thing that happens is that it ask the operator submitting the file whatever question you want it to ask.

chevalier, I have not seen this problem. I have over 50 operators using this feature daily. Did you report it to Esko? Also, when we have noticed "weird" things happening with Esko or Illustrator. We completely reinstall Illustrator and the plug ins. That always fixes the problems.

LOL, Fast impose was actually EOL two years ago. Instead they have allowed for Automation Engine to work just as well with any 3rd party imposition program via JDF.
