WebCenter WORKFLOW CONNECTION setup

We're working on getting a WORKFLOW CONNECTION setup. We got things to work in a basic sense, files will sync to AE and process.

What I've found though, as admin I have a green sync button Screen Shot 2014-05-12 at 5.05.30 PM.png which initiates the process. When I log in as the customer, the sync option is missing.
Anybody using workflow connection to process work out of WebCenter?
Any ideas about the missing sync button?

Do you want the manual sync? You can set it to automatically sync when something happens in the project? As far as seeing the button, I believe that is only visible for the project managers and of course admins. We have ours setup to sync on document uploads.

Thanks Jeff, I just found that a few minutes ago, need to be a Project Manager to see the sync button. I think uploading when something happens sounds like a good idea. We'll move towards that as testing gets further along. I see a lot of powerful stuff here, but a seemingly minor thing like this can really put the brakes on. Will try to make better use of the online docs.

There are a lot of notification options too, any particularly useful notification event triggers that you can recommend?

The thing I find now is our workflow in AE sends files back to WebCenter (preflight report and processed files for proofing). This creates a loop where the uploads from AE are triggering the workflow to start again.

this can be avoided by either naming conventions or different folders. Sounds like you are using push thru folders? (hot folders in webcenter). When I use those, I make sure that AE uploads to a different folder then the push thru folder.

No, in WebCenter we're using a *Workflow Connection* and we've selected to Only synchronize documents in folder: *Submit*.
On the return trip the pdf report gets put into *Preflight Report* folder and processed files get put into *forApproval* folder. As the report and processed files return from AE they cause the workflow to start again and the *Submit* folder gets sent back to AE.
This is only a problem if we try to turn on *Synchronize with Workflow* (Upload new document and Upload new document version) in the *Notifications* tab. If we leave the *Synchronize with Workflow* column all unchecked and just use the synch button it works as expected.
