I shouldn't admit how many sheets I've printed with various grippers removed, both the infeed and impression cylinder, without noticeable issues. Eventually, multi pass cmyk on 12pt proved too problematic - verticle registration and nicking issues. I would not advise replacing the impression...

I would lower the head stops. By design they drop to allow the sheet forward and rise up partially which is the cuase of the tail seam tear. Lower so that in the middle position, they are still below the feed plate.

How much different is the 3302h from 3302m, because with 20 years experience on 3302m, I cannot make heads or tails of what you have described...? My guess is 3302h = continuous factory dampening; m = molleton dampening

With all due respect, the Itek 975 is not a glorified AB Dick press. It is single color machine/press/duplicator, built to the Ryobi standard, under the Itek branding. It's feeder is much different than AB Dick, and to memory, uses 5 ply blankets; much more forgiving for envelopes than AB...

I think you're accustomed to duplexing - print 2, wait, print 2, wait. Simplex runs continuous, page after page. Maybe it is a face up, face down setting; but I never deliver simplex face down so I'm not sure.
