I want to make coating plates in house and was wandering if it is possible to expose polymer plates using our offset UV exposure unit and a film coming from an imagesetter. I have included attachments of the machine we have.

not sure about the long run issues, but make sure you get 5 color plus coater, so that you can run a pantone with the CMYK, usually CMYK + silver or gold, and you will be able to do drip off, strike through, effects by running a special varnish on the 5th unit and gloss coating on the coater.

IBF plates are very good plates... not sure about the Fuji plates, never tried them YET

if that's the case, then it seems like an attractive option to buy the cheap CMYK version, especially if it offers the same quality. we don't always get jobs for digital, it's just once in a while, so this might be an attractive option.

Are these two printers comparable? The oki model is new. Has anyone tried it? how does this new led system fare? it looks like the only disadvantage OKI's got is that it doesn't have inline finishing options like xerox. Not sure about the click charge also... Oki does provide the advantage of...

UnlimitedBT/Craig, what do you do when a job is being output to plates, but part of it is in print? or if a job in print and part of it went to folding? When playing with trello the only way i could think of to get around this was to create a board for each job... Am I mistaken? I also found out...

we haven't upgraded... sticking to CS6 as long as we can... and asking customers for PDF files or supplying artwork in quark.
