In my experience, most 40" sheets (28x40, 24x36, etc.) are short grain. This can be determined by the way the paper is described. This first dimension is the grain direction. 28" x 40", the sheet is short grain. of it is 40" x 28", then it would be long grain.

That sounds like a "scum" dot. Today's plates will consistently hold a dot <1%. You will NEVER see this on a continuous tone proofer. I've experienced this where a 0.7% gained to 3% on the press sheet.

Good video. The other main issue with a RGB black that converts to CMYK black is a registration issue when printing offset. Especially small text.

Adding to @Magnus59... I think the focus is off and is only seen visually in the black because the screen is 45° and runs parallel to the laser direction. Try plotting a plate with either the C, M or Y and change the screening to 45°. If you have the same issue, I would say it's focus.

I agree with @kslight, this is really up to personal preference. I currently use a Mac 70% of the time and Windows the other 30% I personally feel that W11 has "dumbed" down the experience and that has made simple tasks a little harder to achieve. I also feel that some MS products work BETTER...
