    Toner vs. Inkjet stickers?

I think you're going to struggle to find an 'outdoor friendly' label that you can print on a toner machine. Your best bet would be to make sure you have a good adhesive on the labels and then use an outdoor grade laminate. We print stickers day in day out on our Versant and die cut them but I...

    Scratch lines on Versant 280

We get lots of tiny scratches whenever we print heavy black coverage (it could just be that it's not as noticeable on every colour). Not tried detaching the finishing equipment to see if that solves it but will give it a go.

    Xerox Proficio Range

The new Xerox machines are based on Fuji's Revoria engines according to the articile on Printweek.com. Will be interesting to see what they price the machines at compared to Fuji's offerings. We are going to be looking for a new press next year (hopefully) so will be keeping an eye on this.

Anyone know where this wire goes on a Duplo DC-445 (or have a service manual they can share)?

Just thought I'd post an update. I ended up having to expose some of the trace on both ends of where the fuse should have gone as the second pad broke off after I soldered it back into place, however, it's now powering on. I've not tried running it as I've not screwed the boards back in yet...

    Down sizing, need recommendation

I'd look at something like the Xerox C60/C70 over the C75/J75. The C75/J75 are pretty old now. One advantage of the C60/C70 is that they run on standard power outlets whereas the Versant doesn't. Not sure about the C75/J75's. The fuser in the C60/C70 is also a user replaceable unit and it...

Anyone know where this wire goes on a Duplo DC-445 (or have a service manual they can share)?

Thanks, yeh I took the other board out before I left work yesterday and spotted the fuse on the one board that's not on this one so came to the same conclusion. The one end of the wire has part of the trace still attached so managed to find where it was from. I've got a soldering iron, wire...

Anyone know where this wire goes on a Duplo DC-445 (or have a service manual they can share)?

My Duplo DC-445 cut out the other day while the input bed was lifting and it's been completely dead since. I decided to take a look at it today and there's two PSU boards (I'm assuming) which look virtually identical. One board was loose and not screwed down while the other board is firmly...

    Aqueous Printers for Stickers?

I was hoping that laminating it would fix the issue of not lasting outdoors but yeh I get what you’re saying. I might take a look at the larger Roland’s - just don’t want to go down the route of used again as ‘used’ and ‘eco solvent’ don’t seem to go very well together haha.

    Aqueous Printers for Stickers?

From the quick look I had, they seem comparable but the vinyl for inkjet seems to be own-brand (so likely Chinese) rather than the likes of Metamark or substance.

    Aqueous Printers for Stickers?

In our shop we have two Mimaki CJV150's that are both toast. The one just needs a new printhead/dampers/etc whereas the other one needs a new board as well as ink leaked and blew a fuse. We typically have a very good Christmas period and so tend to buy any new equipment in January/February so...

    regular 10k booklet run

Just to add, depending on the paper type, you'd need to get a good paper price from your paper supplier as well to get close to 30p (including click charge). That said, if it was just say 100gsm uncoated paper with maybe a 170gsm cover and all inner pages were b&w, I could see you getting...

    Versant 280 Business Cards

May seem obvious but check that your guillotine is cutting the paper straight when you're cutting it to SRA3. We've had occasions where our guillotine (a big EBA beast) has cut slightly wonky which will then cause issues with alignment.

    Versant 280 Creasing

When we have this issue it's usually the slip sheet in the fuser that's deteriorated.

xerox versant 180 to konica minolta c7090

We went from a KM C3070 to a Versant 80 (long story but we ended up with 2 presses and had to sell one due to lack of space and sold the KM due to its higher resale value). Now, I have to start by saying I absolutely loved our KM machine and to this day I regret selling it. I only have a...

    Toy? or worth considering?

Back when we started, I had the philosophy that I'd buy cheap to get going, then upgrade when I could afford to...what a false economy that was. I learnt fairly quickly that buying cheap just made me resent doing the jobs that required that 'cheap' machine. A good example was greeting cards...I...

    Absence of Just a Printer

Hehe thanks :) The mug wrapper was a complete waste of time if I'm honest. In the UK they're £855+vat so not cheap but I found I could wrap the mugs faster by hand. The only benefit of the wrapper really was that the wraps were more consistent but ended up selling it on eBay in the end.

    Absence of Just a Printer

@miketheprintman has a YouTube channel which is very informative. I started one but haven’t yet put much on there, mainly shorts of things being printed etc but hoping to get a shop tour up soon. Mine is @ukprintshop appreciate any subscribers haha 😛

Replacing my memjet label printer - Is the Epson the way to go?

I've mentioned before (on here and on other forums) about my frustrations with my label printer. I have a model that's the same machine as the Afinia L801 (just badged different) which uses the Memjet printhead. In terms of print quality, I'm pretty happy with it, the only thing that bugs me is...

Black toner all over prints…is it bad developer?

I’ve only noticed it today and the toner is half empty. Could still be possible, or possible that I’ve not spotted it before now (we do a lot of full coverage prints).

Black toner all over prints…is it bad developer?

It’s on the printed side. Prints come out of the machine printed face up.
