Excessive dot gain (or other) - please give me the advice!

Erik Nikkanen You are right! Lab is not the way for controlling the ink film thickness in the offset machine. I had measured the SID of black and magenta again with function relative ink density (status T) then get the result: Black: ref = 1.99, sample = 2.01 Magenta: ref = 1.25, sample = 1.32...

gordo turbotom1052 Alois Senefelder Erik Nikkanen Andrei83 yavo Manprint I am sure that we used same batch of ink, paper, same blankets and packing thickness as our standard. I maintain the stardard of dampening solution with pH = 5.2, temp = 12 degree celcius, conductivity at that time was...

Excessive dot gain (or other) - please give me the advice!

cementary I am sure that ink, paper is same as before. I had washed the ink rollers, used the fresh ink, printed with amount of damping just above the scumming point. About the temperature in ink fountain and inking rollers is very good point to check (that I forget) - thank you! ^^

Excessive dot gain (or other) - please give me the advice!

Dear Experts, Please find in the attached pictures which I took the 40% and 80% dot area in the printed sheet. The above picture is the reference that we had printed last month. The below picture is the printout today. You can see the difference in the black and magenta color. The dotgain of...

Do you think this problem is: set-off or blocking?

turbotom1052 You are right. The testing condition seems to be too hard for a packaging. I am using coated 157 gsm for printing, and laminated the printed paper on a rigid cardboard in finishing process. In my opinion, the surface of coated 157 gsm paper is strong enough for this job. But the ink...

Do you think this problem is: set-off or blocking?

LSW Yes, I think so. I still do not understand why the printbuyer requested this test. We have the only choice that to find the solution. I am trying to adjust: viscosity of the varnish (not too thin or too thick); the temperature of drying is just warm enough, using minimum IR; or try using a...

Hello Experts! We are making a sample. That is a two-pieces rigid box. The surface was printed with dark blue spot color and full area matt waterbased coating on the Heidelberg offset sheetfed machine. After printing, we wait for 24 hours before moving to the postpress process for making the...

    Color management after PP laminating

Schnitzel when I measure patches, the L*a*b* value after lamination is different compared to before lamination. In my opinion, this is effect of the laminating film layer. But I closer look at the result I get: Some solid patch: In patches are 100% C, M, Y and 100% CM, CY, MY; Lab values are...

Hello Experts, My common packaging job: -CMYK offset printing -PP laminating (matt film laminating) -Color matching between final box (laminated surface) and sample of customer. We all know that the color will change after PP laminating. We had tried to make the profile after PP laminating...

Is it possible, to make sure there will be no metamerism under non normalized light?

Dear All Experts, I read this topic and it is really interesting. May I have a question (could be a stupid question ^_^) that: - When I try to mix a spot color to match with a sample in offset printing. Standard light source is D50. - With my Xrite eXact handheld spectrophotometer, I can...

Trouble with registration. Lack of consistency.

Tell me how can you print 5 sheets in one shoot? Do you know there is vibration when impression is turned on and off? In my opinion, you need to print more sheets to make machine in stable and then you take the sample for reference! Regards, DeltaE

Different dot rosette appears different color shade in one printed sheet

gordo Yes, that is my mistake. So if I want to eliminate the rosette drift due to not-exact angle (75 and 15), please tell me what I should do? In your blog, you also mentioned that some well-designed screen, the rosette drift can be inhibited. Please tell how can I know which is well-designed...
