I'd bet that's a press issue. I recall a similar problem on a Xerox iGen. There is a setting that is forcing a dot where there isn't one-a curve perhaps? Show your Konica rep-they'll know what it is. To mitigate drop shadow issues we always made sure they were black only and set to multiply.

To be clear, K is short for Black in the CMYK acronym. 100K is solid black, 84K would be a dark grayish tint of black, thereby introducing a halftone dot where none was anticipated.

We use Esko PackEdge and Plato. Documentation is lametacular. I get the "oh you're still using those" vibe every time I log a support call. Last time they told me to address my issue in Illustrator because it's "less clunky." Can't argue with that. Heavy sigh.

I know that photoplotters are used in the printed circuit board industry and they are similar to their lower resolution cousins, imagesetters, so has anyone replaced a dying imagesetter with a photoplotter? Is this even a viable option?
