Color consistency on my Ricoh devices

Ran/managed a 7210 for several years. My 2¢ and ALL MY OWN OPINIONS: 1. Ricoh Color Calibration is so gross (not finely tuning) that you actually make things WORSE when used as recommended. Don't believe me? Calibrate, Print a job, Calibrate, Print the same job. Too often we saw differences...

Major tone loss after xmf rendering

Maybe - unless it doesn't happen on the OTHER items as well. It could be something as simple as a SPOT COLOR name or included profile confusing things depending on the RIP settings. This is one of the reasons people get frustrated with prepress - it can be HARD to diagnose issues. It is COMPLICATED.

windows 2003 server, unable to access file share with admin credentials after crash

Rampage and Win 2003 Server. Rock solid until it isn't. LOL Ok. I seem to remember a couple of things that might matter - the Server IP Dance. First double check the system settings for the Network Port(s) on the server and WRITE THEM DOWN or screenshot/phone picture. There can/could be...

    Graphtec F-mark issues.

Yeah - 2017 installer. Maybe the issue. Have you tried installing on a WIN 10 machine?

    Graphtec F-mark issues.

So the feeder is run by the iMark System - not a standalone software for the feeder. Simple hardware analysis to determine which devices are seen on which usb ports might help to diagnose the issue. YMMV.

Anyone here working with rigid boxes?

FYI - Many of the old 'Box Makers' are just gone or are going away - lock bottom corrugated have taken over the majority of the market. The machines to produce them are being scrapped pretty quickly. So get all the info you can as fast as you can from any old hands out there.

I call BS on the 'HUB' being machine specific.

    Voice of the Employee

An even more interesting example was when I realized that UPPER management went a step further. If you DID take credit for good ideas they did too. If you DIDN'T take credit (gave credit where due) you were looked at as 'Not Interested in Advancement'. Yeah, the better manager you were for...

Printing issue with some complex pages - Fiery

Did you try export as eps (v3)? Then re-import? That should clean up messy pdf code + fonts. Especially since there doesn't need to be color and transparency management. Have seen many poorly constructed pdf's from cheap pdf exporters. Or in this case overly complex.

    offline booklet maker

Ran one on our Ricoh 7200 for 2 years - side trimmer and face and square back. GOOD: Set it up right and runs great - we ran 24 hr jobs repeatedly with few problems - paper grain is crucial. Read and learn about the skew adjustments in the side trimmer - REALLY IMPORTANT. BAD: Ricoh Service...

    Online Linotype Linotronic Info...

Still have my Red, Green and Blue Postscript programming books to solve those pesky issues. Reminds me that we said 'Pagemaker only has two problems - Fonts and Graphics.' LOL Adobe amazingly released them to the public a few years back - I think.

Prepress pro building designer education tool - what file errors do you see most?

I have hired and trained seasoned designers in prepress departments and at least they didn't have a pre-conceived notion of the 'right' way to handle production processes. It typically takes a year or more for them to face most of the issues they'll need to learn to deal with down the road. You...

Prepress pro building designer education tool - what file errors do you see most?

Interesting. An AI tool driven request for information to build an AI tool. I see some assumptions that need addressing: 1. Designers don't have the knowledge they need to prepare files correctly so we'll fix that with AI software. - Let's apply AI to designer ignorance of file preparation...

    Accountability

Been there. Done that. Watched the 'flat spin' into insolubility. lol That should be a WSJ headline. Google AI (accurately parsing my meaning) says: The term "flat spin into insolubility" is likely used metaphorically, drawing on the concept of a "flat spin" in aviation to describe a situation...

Errors when processing / ripping PDF

Well, until Adobe takes away the ability I usually export as EPS files and then create pdf with import. Yes this is not the best option. Yes the problems are the PDF creator program issue. No there are no better options to keep vectors -INCLUDING FONTS - in the file. No the creator programs...

2 - Ricohs That Will Not Hold Back UP

Same problems in the past on our machine. Registration area. There are several components that wear and get dirty - requires rebuild and or replace. This usually worked for a while. The tech SHOULD know how to fix this issue - call for Senior tech. YMMV.
