Hello I am looking to see if anyone has upgraded their OS to sierra yet. We use CC, Metrix, Command Workstation, Fuji XMF, Enfocus Pit Stop on OSX rigs.

hackintosh if you REALLY want bang for buck. I had a buddy with a production studio in LA made a mammoth PC witha hackintosh OS. then used to boot PC and game :)

someone else can be more specific but on click rates its the amount you pay a company per impression. Some of the older used presses may not have a click rate at all, I seem to remember an old indigo we had not having a click charge but not for sure that is not my speciality.

sure it depends on how you want it setup if you create a job template and in the job settings first icon input you can select a hot folder and what to input. you can then have options to complete jobs after X amount of pages as well as other options. Any Job that has been created also can...

AI is not supposed to be a PDF editor. What it IS supposed to do is take a NATIVE file saved as a pdf and able to edit that so you can have 1 file to save and put through your workflow ect. If you use acrobat along with AI or PSD you then can edit objects as needed.

:) as far as problems with color via different rips with native AI pdfs as Snoop said you have something else going on we do offset ONYX fierySF and command workstations on 2 digital presses and color is consistent between the different RIPS

hard to break habits for most people. its simple really you could go back and save out an unedited AI file if needed if you first played and saved in acrobat. you just have to click on dont save changes from acrobat.

Illustrator can write a native PDF. infact the AI is a modified PDF. so why keep both for a workflow. it is more problematic for housekeeping to have 2 files lingering. I convert all native AI files to a native illustration PDF file. the prepress in this shop has been doing it for about 10 years...

sorry I have been doing it for well over 10 years. Its is better and easier to deal with a PDF workflow keeping native PDFs.

illustrator has been writing and AI file as a modified PDF. SO like someone said if the .pdf checkbox is done you can change AI to PDF and it will open the PDF. There are issues with that too. But it has been a handy trick I have used for about 10 years. I think the AI CS was the first to do it...

It comes down to how the OS is written and how the Hardware interacts. OSX is Generally more stable and useable. hell I have been wanting to do a HACKINTOSH on a laptop for years. Drivers now are close enough to make it worth wild. If you love Windows more power to you. I dont mind a windows...

sorry to hear you dont us MACs We have large and grand format and our prepress is all MACs as well as a friends sign shop. Only PCs are the RIPs that do not have a MAC version that comes with the printers. :)
