    Company embeds microchips in employees

Many employees seem to have their phones in their hand almost constantly in an increasing number of businesses. In such environments, one could do almost as well with bluetooth that was power-limited to reduce the range to a very small area. Those businesses already have more low-hanging fruit...

    The floppy

You could tell them it won't work because it's double density and you haven't upgraded your disk drives yet.

    What colors do you see?

If the color brown was not so common in nature, I'm guessing we would just call it dark orange. Or maybe dark yellow-red.

    Acrobat X help

I've never seen that one. There are some things Acrobat does routinely but doesn't tell you about unless they take a long time. I would try disabling javascript in case document-level or application-level code is doing something (javascript can present those progress bars). If that doesn't stop...

Word, PDF, RGB, CMYK problems for a new self publishing author - Help Please

Not exactly. A charge for fixing the black type should be much less than a charge for rebuilding the document from scratch in Indesign. I wouldn't charge less than $500 for recreation of the document, and would do the black type conversion for free.

Word, PDF, RGB, CMYK problems for a new self publishing author - Help Please

The size of that image should be more than sufficient. If all of your images are like that, I'd say there's no need to redo them. If you were printing large posters, maybe there would be a need to revert to your originals. I second abc's comments. His company actually makes the software most of...

Word, PDF, RGB, CMYK problems for a new self publishing author - Help Please

I meant the resolution in the images you've already edited. What are those? I know very little about Powerpoint. Does it not have a way to preserve resolution when you use it to add text to images?

Word, PDF, RGB, CMYK problems for a new self publishing author - Help Please

Word is certainly not the best software to use for page design, but it shouldn't be too difficult to get a printed result that looks as good as your electronic version. I would categorize the Word pitfalls in this way: Design utility Word provides a simpler world of design possibilities...

    PVC id card printing question

Sorry, I wasn't making fun of your English. I was trying to be funny in a reply to another topic that appears to now be merged with this one, where the text of your post was just a single period (as though your keyboard was broken except for the period key). Your English is fine, and much better...

Add a page to the end of a bunch of PDF files

I wasn't able to overcome the problem, though I only tried for about twenty minutes. It seems like a bug in the Acrobat DC javascript engine. If you have Acrobat 11 (you can probably install it with your CC subscription if not), it does not stop after 50 documents. Acrobat has a 50 open document...

Add a page to the end of a bunch of PDF files

You're welcome! Yes, the errors to watch out for are incorrect pairing. If I made a bad assumption about your filenames, you may get an incorrect result (though it should match the behavior I described, barring any bugs). Fortunately, the code does not have to copy individual page elements. It...

Add a page to the end of a bunch of PDF files

Here's a solution with Acrobat javascript using the attached files. It is not thoroughly tested, so check the results very carefully. I'm guessing it's not possible for the script to know in advance what all the filenames are by any simple convention (e.g., named something static followed by a...

Add a page to the end of a bunch of PDF files

Does "ITL Id Title blocks_1.pdf" need to be appended to a PDF whose name begins with "1-" or is there some other way one would know exactly how the files are to be paired up by only looking at the file names? Is another source required for this information - like a spreadsheet?

Add a page to the end of a bunch of PDF files

How are the files named? What is the distribution of page counts (e.g., all 4 pages, 100 x 2 pages and 369 x 3 pages, or more diverse than that)? Do you have access to OS X and/or Linux?

    Inverted angles in Harlequin

My RIP (Apogee Prepress version 10) matches yours. Same angles, same result. If you measure the angle clockwise instead of widdershins you'd measure cyan at 15 and magenta at 75. You could still have your angle line move "up" if you draw it from the right end. What would be most intuitive to me...

Pieces of image repeat uncontrollably on the plate.

I second pam_add's suggestion. If those tests do not imply a problem with the platesetter, try testing remakes of the same plate starting at different points in your workflow. I would start at the end - tell your platesetter to make 2 copies of the same plate if that's possible. If it can plate...

The case against the EPS file.

The spot channels "Yellow" and "Black" are probably the problem. Names that match CMYK inks are usually treated as process. For example, if you create a spot color in a PDF with Pitstop and name it "Yellow," you won't see an extra spot ink named "Yellow" - it will be process yellow. If those...
